Doug Keenan Memorial Golf Outing

After countless hours of discussions, we as a family have decided to not proceed with any future Doug Keenan Memorial golf outings. We’ve had so much fun with these outings but as our family grows so do the activities they are involved in.

We will be forever grateful for all the participation from our community, rest assured the scholarships and donations will continue to honor our beloved Husband/Dad. Doug had a great love for his family and would be so very proud of all that has been achieved and will continue to achieve with the scholarships and donations in his name. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for your support thru the years. Without you this wouldn’t have been possible. We will be forever grateful for your kindness. His light will always live on in our hearts.

We are so sorry to share the passing of Jerry “Wick” Mitchell. Wick was a long time colleague of Doug’s and instrumental in getting the Doug Keenan Memorial Golf Outing started. Our thoughts are with Kae and their family.

Our heartfelt condolences to the family of Jerry "Wick" Mitchell

Jerold “Wick” Mitchell, 70, of Hinckley passed away Thursday March 6th, 2025, at Mercy Medical Center in Aurora with his loving family by his side. Jerry was born November 2nd, 1954, in DeKalb, the son of Robert and Sylvia (Hartman) Mitchell. He married Kae Duffy Johnson on September 8th, 1979 in Waterman.

After graduating from Waterman High School 1972, he served in the US Coast Guard until his honorable discharge in 1976. Jerry was a member of the suburban teamsters of Northern IL, local 330. He retired from the State of IL D.O.T. He loved to spend his free time golfing with his son and many friends. He enjoyed cheering on his grandsons in their sports. Jerry and Kae enjoyed traveling in their Classic RV visiting family and friends. Jerry was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 654.

Jerry is survived by his wife Kae ; son TJ (Nina) Mitchell; step daughters Traci (Bob Downey) Phillips; Kristi (Scott) Pickert ; grandson Carson Pickert and Tyler Mitchell; step grandsons David (Cheryl) Pickert; Bryan (Allison) Pickert; step great grand children Owen (Emily) Pickert; Ellie (George) Benitez; Gavin and Emily Pickert; brothers Mike (Pam) Mitchell and Jay (Lauri) Mitchell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Denny Mitchell and his beloved dog “Maisy”.

Cremation care has been provided by Torman Funeral Home, Paw Paw. A memorial visitation will be from 2-5 P.M. Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Indian Oaks Country Club, 603 Preserve Road, in Shabbona. A celebration of life will immediately follow at 5 PM at Indian Oaks Country Club. Contributions in Jerry’s memory may be directed to the Illinois Junior Golf Association. We are saddened to share Doug’s mom, Karen, passed Monday. We are comforted that they are reunited but she will be missed❤️❤️

Karen Ruth Keenan, age 83 of Sandwich, went home to her Lord and Savior on November 11, 2024. She was born on January 14,1941 to Clyde and Ruth (Weaver) Elliott.

Hi everyone! We have gotten quite a few questions about how this years outing with the location change and we thought we would answer them here:

📌Are we still grilling our own steaks?
Yes! The Prime Quarter in Princeton was Doug’s favorite restaurant which is why we started this tradition. In addition to grilling your steaks, we will have a salad bar, baked potato and garlic bread.

📌Will we still have the silent auction?
Yes! This year we will open the silent auction at noon for any early birds who want to start bidding. It will still run through dinner for anyone coming later. Good things coming there!!

📌What changes can we expect this year?
Very little! We are still golfing 18 holes after a shotgun start at 11am. As mentioned above, dinner will be very similar. We are rolling out new games to play on the course this year to keep things fresh but we are trying our best to keep it just the same. Cederdell has been wonderful accommodating our requests and maintaining our same pricing.
