Well, I might have been premature about going to Iwo Jima. Right now we are 19 people short of having a second full "charter flight" from Guam to Iwo Jima.
So, I'm putting it out there for any Marine that is interested in going to Iwo Jima from March 25-30th. This is the 81st Anniversary of that battle.
Here's the kicker. The cost is approximately $7,500. This includes airfare, hotel, food and the big after party on Sunday evening, March 29.
And more important, your passport can NOT expire within 6 months AFTER the trip.
So, if interested in making a once in a lifetime trip back tot he most pivotal battle site that swung the war towards the USA in winning against the Japanese to help end WWII here is who you need to contact and NOW. We have until the end of February to fill that plane.
Contacts:
Tim Gutierrez - (214) 274-8261 [email protected]
Joel Meanor - (817) 832-5064 [email protected]
Lt. Col. Raul Sifuentes - (703) 212-8128 [email protected]
By contacting anyone of these people they can send you the packet of information that you should fill out and return. They tell you about the deposit needed and when final payment is due.
So, if interested please sing up ASAP. You will be glad you did and another 50+ Marines signed up will be grateful for you signing up.
On you of the flight confirmed is Don Graves who is 100 years old and one of the few surviving Marines from Iwo Jima. Imagine being on the island and him giving yo a blow by blow of the battle.
I'm really asking you if interested to belly up to the bar now and be a part of history.
And, when reading this please share with everyone on your page so maybe we can get the additional 19 Marines we need.
This will be my last chance to make the trip. And a dream of any Marine to visit this HOLLOWED ground.
SEMPER FI and let's make this happen.
Ooh! Rah!

02/12/2026

I'm going on a "trip" of a lifetime. March 25th through March 30th I'm going to Iwo Jima for the 81st Anniversary of the Battle of Iwo Jima. And Don Graves, presently 100 years old, will be on that tour. He will be the LAST Iwo Jima survivor to visit Iwo Jima. What an HONOR that will be to be visiting the island with him.
Now, if you want to be part of that tour you need to get on the list ASAP, fill out the material required to be on the tour. Last, the cost is approximately $7,200. Yes, that's a lot but for a Marine it is "invaluable".
If you want to go please contact :
[email protected] (214) 274-8261 or [email protected] (571) 569-4522
They can send you the information to fill out and return. Time is a factor so jump on it NOW.
Before you do, make sure you passport is current and WON'T expire for at least 6 months after the tour date.
Marines, if you can afford to go it's an event of a lifetime. I hope you will consider joining a bunch of crusty old Marines and celebrate the 81st Reunion of Iwo Jima.
Semper Fi.

Every December, across the nation, something truly special happens. Volunteers place wreaths on the graves of our fallen heroes - a quiet beautiful reminder that their service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
Here in North Texas, North Texas Wreaths of Honor carries the mission forward. Each wreath is a symbol of gratitude... a simple gesture that says, "You are remembered."
But we can't do it alone. Every wreath is sponsored by someone like you. - someone who believes our veterans deserve to be honored, not just in words but in action.
This year help us ensure that every veteran's grave at our participating DFW National Cemetery is honored with a wreath.
A donation of just $17 places one wreath - but your gift represents so much more. It's remembrance. It's respect. It's love for our country and those who served it.
Please visit: www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/TX0706P and sponsor today.
Together, we can honor. Together, we can remember. Together, we can teach the next generation what it means to truly be free.
North Texas Wreaths of Honor- remembering our heroes, one wreath at a time.
Thank you and donate today

Just in case you haven't received the word, Saturday "wreath" pick up has been rescheduled to Saturday, January 18th. Same time (8:00A), bring gloves, a stick and warm clothes. If you have a pickup please bring. We need your help hauling the wreaths to the dumpsters at the top of the cemetery.
So, with the weather NOW getting nasty stay home and stary SAFE. We need you on the 18th.
Thanks.

Since you're at home. Wreaths Across America is matching your sponsorship of a wreath thru January 17th. You donate one they match the one. Donate 5, they match the 5. We will need close to 64,000 for Saturday, December 13th.

North Texas Wreaths of Honor is matching the first 100 wreaths that are donated. So, your (group) 100 turns to 200, plus our NTWoH 100 turns also to 200. Not a bad start to 2025.

Just about 7 hours ago I asked for help with donations. We had 39 wreaths donated in that 7 hours. Please don't stop now. I know you know a veteran, have a veteran in your family or amongst your friends. Honor them by donating. Even if only one.
As a refresher: www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/TX0706P

If everyone who reads my page donated and then shared my request on your page and then they shared on their page maybe we could get a couple thousand donations of even one wreath.

We still need 39,000 wreaths. Let's not let this be the year we DIDN'T cover every veteran.

We have until November 30th to place the orders so Wreaths Across America can package and ship to some 3,300+ cemeteries and over 3,500,000 wreaths. It's the least we can do for our veterans.

PS - I donated 10 wreaths personally and I've reached out to my family to do the same. For all you Allen cousins and your family, place your wreath order. You know we have about 30 veterans in our family going back to Civil War, WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Not sure about the Desert Wars. But we are a patriotic family so "donate".

And thanks to those who donated after this morning appeal to our Facebook family.

Thank you, thank you and thank you. Honor a veteran NOW.

So I was at a fundraiser last night and one of the gentlemen asked me how the "sponsorships" for wreaths was going. He was specifically asking about the group that I'm part of and also responsible for the wreath "sponsorship" in their group. I told him that it was miserable. The group was NOT responding to the request via their newsletter (where there is a link to donate) and we had 45 wreaths out the 500 goal.
He said Larry its not close enough to Christmas yet. And I told him that we are 32,100 wreaths short of the goal for the cemetery and we had to have the funds to Wreaths Across America on or before Nov. 30th. We CAN'T wait until it's closer to Christmas.
We have a meeting next month on the 5th (election day) and he'd ask everyone to please donate NOW. I know how these people operate. It's imperative to donate NOW.
So, everyone on my page, please donate what you can and now, PLEASE. November 30th will be here before you blink.
Same old story... A wreath is only $17. You can donate one or as many as you are comfortable with donating. It's simple and safe.
Go to: www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/TX0706P. Then ask 10 family or friends to go and do the same thing.
It's now the critical time of this season for this project. If you are a veteran, or have a family member, friend, high school classmate or you know a veteran "donate".
A veteran can die twice. When they stop breathing and when we STOP saying their name. On Saturday, December 14th we will place wreaths on the headstones of those veterans at the DFW National Cemetery.
At one time they signed the dotted line that they swore to defend the constitution and protect our country from enemies both foreign and domestic. And if you ask a veteran today, that promise doesn't EXPIRE. Today if called upon (God forbid it does) a large number of veterans will step up to defend our country. Now I'm not going to be able to go thru boot camp at my age. But I'm sure I can do something to support our troops. Logistics, transportation, clerical, cook (now that could be dicey) or what ever my 75 year old body can withstand.
So, please think long and hard about what you can do to help. Rome wasn't built in a day. But, the 39,000+ can be achieved 1 wreath at a time.
Will you help? www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/TX0706P
Thank you. God Bless our troops and God Bless America.

As one of the two DFW National Cemetery "location coordinator's" we have additional responsibilities and costs. Every year we need funds to cover such expenses as port-a-potties and golf carts. And the cemetery does not provide this service so the two location coordinators are tasked with asking for donations to help us cover those costs.
This year port-a-potties will cost us $3,200 and the golf carts will be $7,800. We need $11,000 to cover the costs. So we are asking everyone reading this to make a donation to help us cover the costs.
If you can help please copy this link below in your url and enter. It will take you to the website where you can make a donation.
IMPORTANT - when you go to the website DO NOT click on a "wreath" donation. Go to the $ donation bucket. Click $25 or $50 or $75 or $100. Now say you wanted to donate $150, click the $100 and the $50 buckets and check out. By using the $ donations we can separate from "wreath" donations and apply to the "funds" needed to cover our extra expense.
We need anything you can donate. Our program at the cemetery needs to have port-a-potties (you know what I mean) and golf carts so we can assist those families or individuals who can't walk the distances they might need to travel to where they need to go.
So, PLEASE help us meet the goal of $11,000 to make it comfortable if you are out there helping lay wreaths.
We have all the money we need to do this. Our problem..... is that money is presently in YOUR pocket. So, please donate so you have a place to "GO" or the means to take you where you need to "GO".
And please ask family and friends to help out also.
If we had just 440 people donate $25 we can cover the bill. And if we achieve more than $11,000 we will then convert into "wreaths". So this is actually a "win - win" for us.
God Bless Our Troops scattered all over the world and God Bless America.
Will you please help us???? And share this on your page so we can get to more people than my page reaches.

North Texas Wreaths of Honor set up a table on the 18th green at Fire Wheel Lakes Course to solicit "sponsorships" for wreaths. This was the Wounded Warriors golf tournament and Richard Kaniss who heads up this tournament has allowed NTWoH to participate for the last four years.
With the help of these great golfers they donated close to $1,600 and Wounded Warrior presented us with a check for $1,700. We will now be able to purchase 194 wreaths to lay on our veterans headstones at the DFW National Cemetery on December 14th.
But we still need your assistance. We need 59,000 wreaths to cover every veteran. Presently the DFW Wreaths group has a little over 20,000 sponsorships. We can not accomplish this goal WITHOUT YOU. So please help by donating NOW. A wreath costs $17 each. Sponsor one or as many as you feel comfortable with donating.
Go to: www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/TX0706P and donate now. Even one wreath gets us closer.
Time is running out. We have until Nov. 30th to get the funds to Wreaths Across America so they can package and start shipping boxes of wreaths across the USA.
Last year across the USA some 3,300+ cemeteries participated in laying wreaths. And over 3,500,000 wreaths were placed on veterans headstones. And we don't want one veteran to go without a "wreath" this year.
So, please take a minute, grab a credit card and sponsor a "wreath". Again: www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/TX0706P
North Texas Wreaths of Honor thanks you. The families of these veterans thank you and a grateful America thanks you for participating. It's painless to donate but your heart will feel better.
God Bless you, God Bless our Troops across the world defending us from enemies both foreign and domestic and GOD BLESS THE USA.
And we at NTWoH thank you.

So my grandson Dylan (aka Bubba) has asked me to be his study buddy for a class he's taking on the Constitution / Declaration of Independence, etc. He asked me to read "Washington's Farewell speech so we could discuss tonight (FaceTime).
First, George never gave the Farewell speech. It first appeared on September 19th, 1796 in the Philadelphia "Daily American Advertiser. (The anniversary of this speech is Thursday)
If you have not read his speech I challenge you to Google the speech, print it out and read it very carefully. He forewarned our country of a number of things that we should and shouldn't do. And he predicted exactly what has happened to the USA.
We should demand that this speech be read in both the House and the Senate and demand they get their act together. Because he talked about getting in bed with foreign countries, involving ourselves in foreign wars, and to PAY OUR DEBT. Read page 17 very closely.
He said that we should discharge our debt. And he discussed "revenue" in order of taxes; that no taxes be devised which are not more or less inconvenient and unpleasure. For those du*****es in Congress he means to NOT get in bed with "lobbyist" in order to pass a bill that makes it where they too find ways to put money in their own pockets. We have a TON OF PORK in our budget. You wonder why they stay in Washington for so long. Not me, they retire multi-millionaires when they final leave D.C.
In reading the Farewell address you will see whether you are a Democrat or Republican or Independent you should recognize that our government is NOT for the people but for those in POWER. And Washington hits on that in his speech also.
Again, if you don't read Washington's Farewell speech you will remain in the dark about what is really happening in D.C. It has NOTHING to do about being a Republican or Democrat but about what it takes to stay in POWER.
And, IF you read Washington's Farewell speech I welcome your thoughts on what you read and what you think. Put it on Facebook so we can all get a cross section of opinions. Because Washington also discussed the fact that everyone has an opinion. Depends on which way you lean philosophically.
Good reading and I hope to hear from anyone and everyone. Maybe this is really what Facebook should be about and not slamming each other. Because your opinion of me is none of my business and my opinion of you is none of your business. And we shouldn't be slamming but pulling together for the good of our country. Because right now we are circling the drain.
PS: Happy Monday

As we get closer to the Saturday, December 14th where we will HONOR our veterans with an HONOR "wreath" I thought I'd share a story I was told about one of the veterans buried at the DFW National Cemetery.

Gunner's Mate Third Class Glenn Edward McDuffie served in the Navy during World War II and he claimed to be the American sailor kissing a nurse in the famous Life magazine image "V-J Day in Times Square" by photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt. After the war McDuffie became a mail carrier and semi-professional baseball player. Several years before McDuffie died, Houston Police Department forensic artist Lois Gibson confirmed that McDuffie was the famous kissing sailor. He died March 9, 2014 and is buried at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery (Section 178, Site 281).

Now you know the Rest of the Story.

Now, please help us achieve the 59,000+ wreaths we need for December 14th. A "wreath" is only $17 each. We presently have 17,767 wreaths sponsored and we are short 41,233.

Now we can't do this without you. If you are a veteran, your father or mother was a veteran, a brother / sister, Aunt or Uncle, Cousin, high school friend or you know a veteran, then HONOR them with a "wreath" sponsorship.

Go to: www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/TX0706P Open, find the Donate a Wreath button, click and then sponsor as many wreaths as you can. This donation is tax deductible if you choose to use at tax time.

Also, if you want to join us on December 14th to assist in laying wreaths, then hit the "volunteer" button, fill it so we have a record of you're going to join us. This helps us get a count of volunteers for that day.

So, DO IT NOW. Donate NOW. As I said, "WE CAN'T DO IT WITHOUT YOU".

If coming bring you children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. They need to witness this because they are our FUTURE.

Again, not to be redundant, but DONATE NOW. Please!!!!!

DONATE NOW!!!!! Please.
