The 2026 Emergency Preparation Supplies Sales Tax Holiday runs from Saturday, April 25, through Monday, April 27. During this time, Texans can purchase select emergency supplies tax-free in-store, online, or by phone, as long as payment is made within the holiday window.
Qualifying items include:
• Portable generators under $3,000
• Emergency ladders and hurricane shutters under $300
• Essentials under $75 such as batteries, flashlights, radios, first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and more
There is no limit on the number of qualifying items you can purchase, and no exemption certificate is required.
