It is with a very heavy heart that I share the passing of one of our beloved Team Plano Special Olympics athletes, Lynnette Dumas.
Lynnette was truly one of a kind… a big heart, a fun spirit, and yes...just the right amount of sarcasm & stubbornness that made her perfectly Lynnette. 💜🩷
Over the years, she participated in many sports with Team Plano ... basketball, volleyball, track.....but I think it’s safe to say her favorite was swimming (and yes… I might be a little biased as her swim coach).
Lynnette had a way of making me feel like a rockstar! The hugs...hands down the BEST hugs ... and every season without fail, she would show up with a handmade necklace and bracelet set just for me. The beads in the center always said the same thing…
“I Love You Coach Traci.” Those will forever be some of my most cherished gifts.
Lynnette passed peacefully on March 21, 2026, shortly after a late-stage cancer diagnosis. While our hearts are broken, we are grateful she is now at peace.
