This morning we had Janice Norton from Lovepacs-Plano present to our club. Our club has supported their mission for several years. They provide PISD students who qualify for free or reduced lunch with a box of food that will last a week to take home during weeks when school is not in session. For some students, school lunch is a nutritional lifeline and Lovepacs ensures that is maintained.

Last Friday, our very own Irina Panovska gave a presentation about the economic outlook for the coming year. We are lucky to have a distinguished Economic professor as a member to share such insight.

We are also lucky to have former District 5810 Governor Bud McBrayer as a member. He was presented with a pin honoring him for 46 years of perfect attendance at Rotary meetings (with makeups). He further honored George Elking for previous work especially with Blood Drives.

You may notice some changes along 15th Street between Custer and Independence over the next few weeks.

As part of ongoing tree maintenance, mature trees in the medians will be removed due to declining health. Many of these trees are species that are no longer well-suited for median conditions. While trees in these areas provide valuable beauty and shade, the challenging growing environment—including limited soil space, heat from nearby roadways, and other environmental stressors—typically limits their lifespan to about 25–30 years.

The good news? This fall, we'll plant 164 new native and well-adapted trees that are better suited to thrive in these conditions and help ensure a healthier, more resilient urban forest for years to come.

Today we welcome in our new President and Officers for the 2026-27 Rotary Year.

Former District Governor Bud McBrayer inducted our incoming leaders. Thank you to outgoing President Greg Rushin and welcome to our new President Hilton.

In addition, we were happy to present a gift to Children's Advocacy Center of Collin County for their Back to School Fair. Also, member Larry Craghead was recognized by the North Texas Pioneers Rotary for his contributions.
