💔 Rusty was only six weeks old when his world nearly ended before it had even begun.
He was in an overcrowded shelter with a broken leg that was swollen and extremely painful. He had bruising on his abdomen, and covered in ticks! While other puppies should have been learning how to play and feel safe, Rusty was simply trying to survive.
Then Mazie’s Mission stepped in.
The moment we learned about Rusty, we knew we couldn’t let his story end there. Because a compassionate foster opened her home and heart we were able to immediately pull Rusty into the Mazie’s Mission Rescue! When he arrived, the extent of his condition became heartbreakingly clear. He was covered in ticks… his foster mom patiently picked off every single one, bathed him, and showed him kindness he may have never known before. 💙
🏥 At the Mazie’s Mission hospital, our medical team quickly got to work on his injured leg. His tiny broken leg was carefully splinted, and a long road to healing began. 🫶🏼Caring for a six week old puppy with an orthopedic injury is no easy task. Puppies are meant to run, jump, wrestle, and explore the world and Rudy is no exception. Despite everything he’s endured, he is the sweetest boy full of love, cuddles, and playful puppy energy.
His foster mom has taken on the difficult job of keeping this active little baby calm while bringing him to the Mazie’s Mission hospital every week for splint changes until he is old enough for surgery. It takes constant attention, patience, medical expertise, and significant financial resources to give a puppy like Rusty the future he deserves. If anyone can do it, Mazie’s Mission can!
But when you look into Rudy’s eyes now, you don’t see defeat anymore.
You see hope.
You see a puppy who was almost forgotten, now surrounded by people fighting for him every single day.
