❤️🩹 Meet Kintsugi.
Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold. Instead of hiding the cracks, they become part of the story—a reminder that something can be broken and still be beautiful, valuable, and worthy of love 🌹 .
When we met this tiny senior girl, it was clear that life had left its marks on her.
A partner shelter found her as a stray with fur so severely matted that it had become painful and restrictive, even contributing to a severely broken leg 💔 . Once in our care, we discovered rotten teeth, 🩻 pneumonia, and a tiny body that had been waiting far too long for someone to help.
Over the past few days, Kintsu has known something she may not have experienced in a very long time: gentle hands, a warm bed, pain relief, and people committed to helping her heal.
But her path forward will take 🕰️ .
Her little body has been through so much that she is not yet strong enough for the multiple surgeries she will need 🏥 . Right now, our focus is helping her breathe easier, fight this infection, regain strength, and prepare for the next steps in her healing journey.
Just like the art she is named after, Kintsugi’s story is not about pretending the cracks never happened.
Her broken leg, her missing teeth, her years of being overlooked — those things are part of where she came from. But they do not define her worth.
The love she receives now becomes part of her story, too.
Every medication.
Every meal.
Every soft blanket.
Every gentle touch.
Every person who chooses to see her.
Those are the golden pieces filling in the cracks.
💕Kintsugi is proof that what has been broken can still be cherished. What has been hurt can still heal. And what has been overlooked can still become someone’s treasure.
