“Revolutionary Road Trip: Hidden Stories from America’s Founding Journey” follows travel host and storyteller Darley Newman as she visits battlefields, fortresses, colonial taverns, and historic towns across the original thirteen colonies to uncover often-overlooked people and places of the American Revolution. Blending engaging narrative with practical travel tips, the book invites readers—especially those who cherish our patriot ancestors—to walk the same hallowed ground, hear local oral histories, and discover lesser-known heroes whose sacrifices shaped the new nation.

• Highlights hidden and lesser-known Revolutionary War sites in national parks, historic cities like Charleston and Princeton, and smaller communities from the Carolinas to Pennsylvania and New York.
• Shares stories gathered from guides, local historians, veterans, and community members, preserving the kind of grassroots memory that aligns closely with the mission of the Sons of the American Revolution.
• Offers suggested itineraries and on-the-ground travel advice, making it a useful companion for members planning 250th-anniversary commemorations or chapter trips to Revolutionary sites.

“Revolutionary Road Trip: Hidden Stories from America’s Founding Journey” will be released on June 30, 2026, and preorders are available now.

Our Color Guard had the honor of presenting, posting, and retrieving the colors during the Memorial Day Ceremony at Frisco Lakes, hosted by the Frisco Lakes Veterans Club on Saturday, May 30, 2026.

This meaningful event honored our nation’s fallen heroes with remarks by Dale Duboskas, a moving invocation and benediction by Gerald Nelson, and a Fallen Soldier Table presentation by Gerry Nelson. Tanya Dieters delivered beautiful patriotic songs, and Mario Blandini’s performance of Taps was powerful. A commemorative wreath was laid by Theresa Peterson.

Through the support of its partners and community, the Frisco Lakes Veterans Club continues to support organizations including Dallas Veterans Resource Center, Honor Flight DFW, DFW USO, Tunnels to Towers Foundation, and DFW Wreaths Across America.

We are proud to have taken part in this solemn and respectful tribute.

Color Guard (L–R): Alan Roach, Nick Gilliam, Major Dave Fautheree (Commander), Ronald Carey, Joe Conger, Roger Hardin, Michael Becker, Randall Bush, Bob Johns

Revolutionary America is coming to select theaters for a limited three-day run, May 31 through June 2. Showtimes are limited at participating Cinemark, AMC, and other locations. Tickets are generally $15, no passes are accepted, and there will be no previews before the film, so plan to arrive promptly.

Per the studio, Revolutionary America tells the story of the American Founding, the greatest political achievement in history. The American colonists had developed a unique way of life as they practiced self-government for 150 years. In the struggles between the colonies and the mother country that followed the French and Indian War, Britain declared that Americans had no right to rule themselves. This went against everything the Americans knew. In response, our ancestors risked their “lives, fortunes, and sacred honor” to fight the War for Independence. Against all odds, they won, and in victory formed a stable, lasting republic.

This documentary, produced by Hillsdale Studios, narrated by Tom Selleck, and featuring interviews with prominent scholars and commentators, will help you see the Revolution through the eyes of the Americans who lived through it. With expert commentary, historical documents, compelling cinematography, and beautiful music, experience the Revolution like never before!

Please note that this is not an endorsement of the film, but rather a courtesy notice to keep you informed, as the window to see this documentary in theaters is very short.

Ashlee Happy, an outstanding 8th-grade U.S. history teacher at Haggard Middle School, was honored at our May 5 SAR meeting with both the Good Citizenship Award and the Flag Certificate.

The Good Citizenship Award recognizes individuals who exemplify patriotism, leadership, and service to the community. The Flag Certificate honors those who proudly display the American flag for patriotic purposes.

Ms. Happy’s dedication reaches far beyond the classroom. She was named First Place recipient of the Tom and Betty Lawrence American History Teacher Award at both the Texas Society and National SAR levels—an incredible achievement.

As Ms. Happy shared, “I love teaching American history because it’s not just about the past—it’s about helping students think, question, and understand the world around them. This recognition is a reminder of why that work matters so much.”

Thank you, Ashlee, for your passion and commitment to inspiring the next generation of informed, engaged citizens and future leaders.

L-R: Scott Knightly, Plano SAR; Alan Roach, VP of Youth Activities and Awards & Medals; Ashlee Happy, Distinguished Honoree; and Ronald Carey, Treasurer.

Happy Mother’s Day to the women whose strength, sacrifice, and devotion have shaped generations of Americans.

From the founding days of our nation to the present, mothers have been the quiet patriots—instilling values of liberty, courage, and service in their families and communities.

The Sons of the American Revolution proudly honor the mothers of yesterday and today, whose influence continues to inspire citizens who cherish and defend the freedoms secured by our forefathers.

Today, we celebrate you—keepers of tradition, teachers of virtue, and the enduring heart of our nation.

Happy Mother’s Day.
