💔 Today is a very sad day for the BTRNT family. 💔
Wednesday night, we received an urgent call about a sweet momma French Bulldog who had been in labor all day and was now in distress. Her family could not afford the emergency C-section she desperately needed.
There was no hesitation. We immediately said YES.
We contacted the local emergency vet so they would be prepared for her arrival. When sweet Bijou arrived, she was struggling and was immediately placed in an oxygen crate.
Bijou gave birth to four puppies. Tragically, one was stillborn. Her three surviving babies — Beau, Remy, and Willow — were tiny, beautiful little fighters. ❤️
Momma and her babies were still struggling after delivery, so they were placed in oxygen while they stabilized.
Thanks to so many kindhearted people who stepped up at a moment’s notice, we had a plan in place to get this little family safely from the ER to their foster home.
And then Lisa DiNorscia stepped up to foster them.
Lisa watched over Bijou and her babies around the clock, making sure each puppy was latching, nursing and getting everything they needed.
Yesterday morning, little Remy, the runt of the litter, stopped nursing. Lisa immediately rushed them to an emergency vet, where they discovered his glucose was low. Soon, Remy began nursing again. Willow and Beau were nursing too, and it seemed like our three little fighters were doing well.
Lisa continued checking on them throughout the day and through the night.
And then this morning, the unimaginable happened.
We lost all three babies. 💔
We don’t know why. We don’t have answers. We only know that our hearts are absolutely shattered.
🌈 Rest in peace, Beau, Remy & Willow. 🌈
You were only with us for 3½ short days, but please know that you were loved, cherished and fought for every moment of your precious little lives.
Please keep their foster mom, Lisa, in your prayers. She poured her heart into caring for this little family, and losing all three babies at once is absolutely devastating.
This is the part of rescue that people don’t always see.
Sometimes, despite emergency veterinary care, sleepless nights, constant monitoring, and doing absolutely everything possible, we still lose them.
And it hurts.
At BTRNT, every life is precious to us. We fight for every dog who comes through our doors — and we fight even harder for the sick, fragile and struggling ones who need us most.
Beau, Remy and Willow mattered.
🐾They were wanted.
🐾They were loved.
🐾 And they will never be forgotten. 🐾🌈❤️
Godspeed, sweet babies. Run free together. 💔🐾
