The Storehouse Community Center The mission of The Storehouse Community Center is to feed, clothe, and care as neighbors in one community. Visit www.thestorehousecc.org.

The Storehouse of Collin County provides short-term assistance and long-term transformation to residents of Collin County in need through the Seven Loaves Food Pantry, Joseph’s Coat Clothing Closet, Project Hope Neighbor Care, and The Academy Education Program. The nonprofit was founded in 2009 under the name of Seven Loaves Community, which provided food pantry staples and grew over the years to

meet a variety of needs. Over 3,000 families on average access Seven Loaves each month. The Storehouse provides clothing at no cost through Joseph’s Coat as well as case management and resource referrals through Project Hope. The Academy provides free and reduced-cost classes to assist with language, job, or life skills development. The Storehouse EIN: 27-1883333

A big thank you to our Club 52 partner, Plunk Smith, PLLC, for sponsoring pantry operations for the week of May 11! We’re especially grateful for Plunk Smith’s continued commitment to our neighbors and returning each year to serve as a team.

“Our firm loves volunteering at The Storehouse because it is an amazing opportunity to serve our community. It is extremely rewarding for us to see the smiles on our neighbors' faces even when there's a language barrier sometimes. The connection we get to experience is beautiful.” — Kelsey Garza, Plunk Smith team member

Happy Mother’s Day 💐💙

For many of us, moms are our first examples of neighborly love — teaching us how to care, serve, and love others well. Thank you to all the incredible mothers and mother-figures in our community!

Saturday, May 2, 2026: The Storehouse Community Center’s Spring 2026 graduation filled the sanctuary at St. Andrew Methodist Church with emotion and celebration as 257 participants from 16 countries gathered to mark their progress. Among them, 11 graduates completed all levels of English instruction and were recognized as powerful examples of perseverance, courage, and transformation.

Leaders and teachers reflected on a semester defined by resilience and community, with many students facing challenges but continuing to show up week after week. CEO Candace Winslow expressed deep gratitude for the volunteer teachers who make the program possible, noting that the Academy would not exist without their dedication and countless hours of service.

Academy Director Ligia Urrego highlighted the strength of the community, sharing that despite challenges, neighbors continued to return, learn, and grow together. In a powerful moment, she invited former graduates who now volunteer as teachers to stand, recognizing them as the heart of the program and a reflection of “neighbors serving neighbors.”

Participants were honored with certificates, including those completing the Work Well program, which equips students with job readiness skills.

A standout moment came from graduate Ruth Rodriguez, who shared her journey from Nicaragua to Texas in 2022. What began as a visit for food became a life-changing commitment to weekly classes, where she found both education and belonging. Through Work Well, she gained skills that led to an apprenticeship and now a full-time role with Hilti. “The Storehouse is a home where we can be ourselves without fear of mistakes—where every smile is another reason to keep coming back.”

An emotional performance of “The Prayer,” featuring both professional musicians and Storehouse neighbors, highlighted the strong sense of community.

At our Annual Volunteer Appreciation Celebration on Sunday, April 26, we honored Denny Mosseller as our Volunteer of the Year for his decade of faithful service to The Storehouse Community Center. Denny was the guest of honor at Riders Field, where he threw out the first pitch at the Frisco RoughRiders game, joined by his wife, Kay Kay, and family cheering him on from the stands.

Since 2016, Denny has served faithfully across our programs — beginning in the Seven Loaves Food Pantry as a loader, helping ensure neighbors receive food with care and dignity, and continuing in The Academy, where he has spent the past three years teaching ESL classes and investing in students each week.

Denny’s service reflects The Storehouse’s mission to walk alongside neighbors toward transformation. His humility, consistency, and genuine care for others have strengthened our community and built lasting relationships with both neighbors and fellow volunteers.

Thank you, Denny, for leading with compassion and joy. We are so grateful to serve our neighbors alongside you 💙
