Alhamdulilah for another successful Big Give. This year we gave away $25,202 dollars to our grant winner Vela, as well as $250 awards to each of our other 4 finalists. As always it was a lovely morning of sisterhood. We were inspired by all the incredible work our finalists are doing for the disabled in our community. Our circle is growing mA and we can't wait for it to get us closer to that 100k award goal. We hope all our members return for our next cycle and those who haven't yet participated, join! It's the easiest club to be in with such a rewarding impact. Thank you to everyone who came out today!

Big congrats to our winner for winning our grant this year. They were awarded $25,000 from our collective group of women. Vela supports families, especially immigrant families, navigating autism. They provide a free peer-led Austrian course as well as monthly support groups and case management assistance and support. We look forward to doing a service project with them in the fall!

Dr. Qusay Hussein Al Mamari was a cherished member of our Central Texas community. After surviving life-changing injuries in Iraq, he came to the United States, where he rebuilt his life with courage and perseverance. He went on to earn advanced degrees, become a respected scholar, and dedicate his work to advocating for people with disabilities.

Beyond his academic achievements, Dr. Al Mamari was known for his kindness, mentorship, and unwavering hope. His life’s journey continues to inspire us all to live with resilience, service, and compassion.

We dedicate our 2026 grant in his honor and will be awarding this year’s grant to a non-profit serving our disabled community. If you know of any organization who does excellent work serving the disabled, please ask them to reach out to us.
