Congratulations to our Shepton band members (current and alumni) who placed second in the North Texas Colorguard Association event yesterday, as part of the Plano West Varsity Winter Guard squad. The Junior Varsity squad also came in second in their division. Great job!!

The Plano West Jazz Orchestra has been selected as one of 18 National Finalists for the 2020 Essentially Ellington Competition and Festival in New York City. This is the highest honor high school-aged jazz bands can achieve.

While we are excited to represent Plano West, PISD, the city of Plano and the state of Texas, we need financial assistance to make this trip possible.

Amazing job by our band members this weekend at UIL Solo & Small Ensemble! 49 students received a 1 on their Solo and 54 Small Ensembles received a 1. We also had 25 Students/Ensembles qualify for the TSSEC (Texas State Solo-Ensemble Contest) in June. WOW!!!

Our 2020 show theme!

2020 Show Reveal!.... Our show is going to be "Retcon" (Retro Continuity) will have a 50/60's sci fi aesthetic - We will use famous concerto themes (Grieg Piano, Rachmaninoff #3, Mendelssohn Violin Concerto, Haydn Trumpet.. etc etc etc ) The difference will be that we will hear these themes as though they were written at a different time or place (Mendelssohn violin concerto in a rock style - Rimsky Korsakov Trombone concerto in a Bossa Style) etc etc etc.... here is a (VERY) rough draft of the show logo... (will also have an 80's Chrome version as well) very excited! ☂️🐼

Happiness is...seeing students play the Bass and Alto Flutes purchased by the Booster Club in 2019 during the 2020 Dessert Theater event. This group and 27 others from Shepton will be participating in the UIL Small Ensemble Competition on February 22nd.

Several of our band members competed a North Texas Colorguard Association event yesterday, as part of the Plano West Junior Varsity and Varsity Winter Guard squads.
