Nu Pi Sigma was proud to participate in Frisco ISD’s HBCU Night at Lone Star High School!

Our Sorors enjoyed connecting with students and families, sharing information, and encouraging the next generation of scholars as they explore their college opportunities.

Thank you to Frisco ISD for bringing the community together and creating a space for students to learn more about the opportunities and experiences HBCUs have to offer!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

This month, we honor those whose lives have been impacted by breast cancer, including our beloved Soror Hattie McDaniel, who passed away from breast cancer in 1952 at the age of 57.

In her honor and memory, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. established the Hattie McDaniel Cancer Awareness and Health Program. The program was created to promote education, encourage early detection of breast, prostate, ovarian, colon, and other cancers, and support research focused on cancer prevention.

Today, this work has evolved into the Women’s Wellness Initiative, empowering chapters to address health issues that disproportionately impact women, particularly women of color.

We celebrate breast cancer survivors and honor their strength while working diligently to raise awareness and help create a future with more survivors.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. stands with survivors, honors those whose lives have been lost to domestic violence, and remains committed to promoting safety, healing, and accountability.

Domestic violence is not always physical. Abuse can take many forms, including emotional, psychological, financial, and digital abuse. This month, we encourage our communities to turn awareness into action:

• Know the signs and share trusted resources.
• Create a safety plan and check in on someone you care about.
• Keep these confidential, 24/7 resources available: Call 1-800-799-SAFE (7233), text START to 88788, or visit The Hotline to chat online. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.
• Share this message to remind someone that they are seen, believed, and supported.

We will award two $500 scholarships to graduating high school seniors in the DFW Metroplex who plan to pursue a degree at a college, university, or trade school.

Application Window: October 1, 2026 – April 1, 2027
Award: Two $500 scholarships

Elections are not abstract. They decide what happens in your child’s classroom, at your doctor’s office, in your paycheck, and on your street. That is why the A.C.T.I.V.A.T.E. Campaign has four priority areas, and every single one of them is on a ballot somewhere:

CIVIC ENGAGEMENT: Who draws your district lines and runs your elections.

EDUCATION REFORM AND EQUITY: Who sets your school budget, curriculum, and funding formula.

WOMEN AND CHILDREN’S HEALTH EQUITY AND SAFETY: Who decides Medicaid coverage, maternal health funding, and clinic access.

ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT: Who votes on wages, childcare support, housing, and small business access.

This Tuesday, do two things:

Name the ONE issue that matters most to you.

Find out which elected office actually decides it. It is often closer to home than you think.

Then make sure you are registered and ready at https://bit.ly/m/RHOckTheVote, and recruit 7 people to your Circle at https://www.onemillionblackvotersrising.org/join-a-circle.

You cannot advocate for an issue and sit out the election that decides it.

Yesterday, the ladies of Nu Pi Sigma stepped out for the 6,000 Sisters, 6,000 Steps for Hope Breast Cancer Walk & Health Expo, joining our community in raising awareness, promoting women’s wellness, and supporting those impacted by breast cancer.

We walked, we connected, and we showed up for a cause that touches so many lives. It was a beautiful morning of sisterhood, health, hope, and community!

Yesterday, we came together to celebrate our Chapter Anniversary with good vibes, great company, and plenty of Sigma love!

Thank you to our Sorors, Philos, fellow Divine Nine family, friends, and everyone who came out to celebrate with us. We’re grateful for the memories we’ve made, the impact we continue to make, and everything still ahead for Nu Pi Sigma.
