This faded souvenir from 2003 is more than a memory - it marks a pivotal moment in my academic and professional journey which began as a Lecturer of Sociology at Hindu College, University of Delhi and my first workshop “Missing Girls in India: Science, Gender Relations and the Political Economy of Emotions”. That experience solidified my commitment to studying gender relations not just as a social issue, but as a field grounded in scientific research, demographic evidence, and structural analysis - a foundation that continues to guide my work today.
What began in that academic setting has continued for over two decades - and today, through SAARTHI, that same research-based understanding guides our preventive work with women and families.
Every workshop we conduct, every woman we guide, every family we support is grounded in long-term research and deep sociological understanding. Our programs are not reactive. They are built on over 20 years of studying the scientific foundations of gender relations and translating that knowledge into prevention.
From organizing academic dialogues in 2003…
to preventing domestic abuse and promoting healthy families today…
The mission remains the same:
To use knowledge as power.
To prevent abuse before it begins.
To protect women and children through informed, culturally rooted, scientific solutions.
To our community, donors, and sponsors - thank you for supporting work that is built not only on compassion, but on decades of research and scholarship.
The journey that began in 2003 continues - stronger, deeper, and more committed than ever.
