Hi Neighbors!

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for all of North Texas through at least Saturday night. As you prepare for the winter weather event, I am reaching out with a friendly reminder to turn off your irrigation systems. If you are an HOA board member, or leader of a neighborhood group, please make sure sprinkler systems for common areas are shut off, too.

Remember to take care of the 4 P’s:

People: Stay warm and safe indoors and dress in layers when heading out.
Pets: Bring them inside or provide adequate shelter, food, and water.
Plants: Cover or bring sensitive plants indoors to shield from the cold.
Pipes: Insulate pipes and allow faucets to drip to prevent freezing.

For more guidance on how to prepare, visit Plano.gov/WinterPrep.

Thank you!

Halloween in the Park

Hello Neighbors!

We have heard from the people who live in the Halloween house on Singletree and they are participating in Halloween again this year (Yay from all the residents)!!!! And there are a few homes near by who are also doing a fabulous job with their Halloween decorations, so based on your feedback and the popularity of the idea of holding Halloween in the Park, where we setup trick-or-treat stations along Mission Ridge (near Buckhorn Park), our plan to hold Haloween in the Park is back on.

This idea originated from multiple neighbors who indicated that they normally don't get very many trick-or-treaters on their street, so we thought we'd try something different and have anyone interested in joining other WNA neighbors near Buckhorn Park (along Mission Ridge) by bringing their candy to hand out to trick-or-treaters. Note: If we don't get more than 15 families who want to participate in this, then we will need to reassess.

So, if you plan to participate, plan to set up at around 5:45PM on October 31. It will still be daylight savings time, so it will stay light for a little while.

If interested in participating in Halloween in the Park, CLICK HERE TO RSVP.

Annual Peanut Butter Drive – September 1-30

The Annual Peanut Butter Drive, which benefits the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) is held September 1-30. Did you know that one of the programs at NTFB feeds more than 11,000 children each week? So any donation that is made definitely makes a difference.

You can deliver actual jars of peanut butter, alternative products (such as almond butter) or financial donations to the home of Pat and Ray Nelson, 3904 Mission Ridge Rd between now and September 29. There is a large (clean) trash can on the front porch for collecting the donations.

All jars collected will be delivered to the North Texas Food Bank on September 30. Regarding all cash/check donations, we will issue one check to the NT Food Bank to cover the total of all the cash donations received, so make all checks payable to "WNA" or "Whiffletree".

We did really well last year and we hope to match or beat that amount this year. Peanut butter is shelf-stable and is a real help to those in need. It provides a protein-enriched snack to at-risk kids who may not be getting all the nutrients they need in a day.
