Are you looking for a way to give back to your community? Do you enjoy working with numbers and want to help others?

You can become a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program volunteer at Christian Neighbors. We will be a VITA tax site for the 2027 tax season and need volunteers to help fill several roles for our site. This includes greeters, intake specialists, simple tax preparers (using a provided software), and quality reviewers.

No experience necessary, you will receive training in January and can then choose how many hours each month you want to volunteer. This program helps seniors, veterans, disabled folks and more with help getting bigger refunds with no preparation costs.

The purpose of the Community Needs Assessment (CNA) is to understand the needs of people living in poverty or at risk of falling into poverty. The findings will help Community Action of Allegan County (CAAC) identify and prioritize resources and guide future planning.

The CNA looks at poverty rates as well as the challenges that can make it difficult for individuals and families to become financially stable. It also considers the larger community, including local services, resources, and infrastructure, to better understand what may create barriers or provide support for people experiencing poverty.

Are you behind on child support in Allegan County? Do you have a bench warrant out for your arrest for arrearages?

Christian Neighbors and the Allegan County Friend of the Court are partnering together for a Child Support Clinic on Thursday, October 15th from 12pm-3pm at the First Baptist Church of Allegan. You can attend the clinic without fear of arrest, even if there is a bench warrant out for you. Come and find out your options and move forward with a plan and be free from the constant fear of being arrested. You can also potentially qualify for forgiveness of money owed to the state. Join us today at our 11th Annual PATH Walk, registration is at 1:30pm, some remarks, and step off at 2pm! It's a beautiful day to walk and support Christian Neighbors! We are Neighbors Caring for Neighbors! Stay afterwards for goodie bags and "walking tacos!"

Christian Neighbors is proud to be a part of the Allegan County Food Pantry Collaborative. We are excited for Souptober 🥣

🥫🎉 Day 1 of the Soup Drive is officially underway! 🎉🥫

Our goal is to collect 6,000 cans of soup and fill totes at 110 collection locations across Allegan County!

Every can donated will help the 18 pantries of the Allegan County Food Pantry Collaborative (ACFPC), a program of Hungry for Christ, provide food to local families in need.

❤️ Every can counts, and each donation makes a difference.

Together, we can fill every tote and every pantry shelf. Thank you for helping us make an impact in Allegan County!

New Date! The September TEFAP Food Distribution will be held TODAY, September 29th, 10am-1pm at 323 Water Street, Allegan. This distribution is for anyone in need of food. 269-673-5472 ext. 242.

We had a great outreach event at Gun River East Mobile Home Park yesterday afternoon. Lots of information and resources were shared, dinner was served, and the kiddos in attendance left with some fun prizes as well. Thank you to the partnering agencies who also attended and shared their information: Community Action Allegan, MDHHS Prevention Program, Heart of West Michigan United Way, and St.Stephen's Episcopal Diaper Project. Together, we are neighbors caring for neighbors!
