At our Expungement Clinic last Friday, we were able to help 124 individuals get nonviolent offenses expunged from their record. These folks will now have more opportunities for better housing, education, and employment. Thank you to Safe and Just Michigan and the Allegan County Public Defenders Office for their great partnership on this event. Pictured below is everyone who volunteered their time and services for free to make this all possible. It takes a team effort, from the attorneys, law students, notaries, Michigan State Police, and even Jimmy Johns who donated lunch for everyone. This type of event is what helps to strengthen communities and we are proud to be a part of it!

Happy National Nonprofit Day! 💙

Today, we’re celebrating the heart of what makes nonprofits possible: people caring for people, neighbors caring for neighbors, communities caring everyone in their community.

At Christian Neighbors, that means providing a safe place for our neighbors who need food, rent and utility assistance, education, or other resources to help create stability in their lives.

Every pantry visit, every household helped with an unexpected bill, every class held in our Education Resource Center, and every conversation with a neighbor is made possible because our community chooses to care.

To our volunteers, donors, community partners, and supporters: thank you for being part of Neighbors Caring for Neighbors. Together, we’re helping build a stronger, more stable community - one neighbor at a time.

This week, we held our annual back-to-school celebration for our clients and their families. It was such a fun and rewarding event, seeing all the kids with their new backpacks and school supplies. Both of our local libraries came and brought books for the kids as well and got kids signed up for library cards! There was an ice cream truck and plenty of games and prizes. Thank you to North Point Church for donating over 175 backpacks and Bennett Family Agency for sponsoring the treats and activities. Thank you as well to the vendors who came and shared their resources: Help Me Grow, Community Action of Allegan County, Ransom District Library, and Otsego District Library.
