For those who have followed us over the years, I'd like to give an update. Cindy has a garage full of items that we really wanted to deliver to Pine Ridge this fall, but time, health issues and lack of people who desired to assist us has caused us to postpone. Hopefully we will go in the spring. IF you have a desire to help, we definitely need a driver or two, some people with physical strength...and of course financial assistance is always welcome. Pray for the Lakota Sioux People as winters are always tougher. Dave

Sorry we havent been on the site for a while, but getting older and health issues have drained the energy. Havent even spoken with Cindy and Herb for some time. And taking care of my wife has become my full time job. But please remember the people on Pine Ridge and Rosebud reservations, especially during these critical winter months. Half of the homes still don't have a means for heating, and many that do still dont have the financial resources to buy the fuel, Much prayer needed.

Update!! Well the guys left a day early on Sunday. They arrived later in the day Monday but due to some communication mix-up...plus the bad weather and roads to the church, had to make a change on the fly. Cindy got on the phone...and within 15 minutes we had a new drop off point and 10 strong men to help us unload. Two hours later the 28 foot trailer was unloaded...and a group of ladies from the Episcopal Church in Wounded Knee went to work unpacking. (I think I have that info correct but reports are still coming in). Herb and Charlie left for home Tuesday morning and then drove straight through and arrived back in Plainwell Weds, exhausted but safe, and are probably still sleeping :-) Charlie took pictures so I will try to get them posted here soon. Thanks to all for the financial and prayer support necessary to make this happen. Next year we will try to make the trip in August so we don't have severe weather to deal with, and before school starts so more people can be involved!! THANKS AGAIN!

How quickly things change!! Reports of another storm coming through the Dakotas Saturday or Sunday have caused us to cancel yet again. Now it looks like we leave Monday the 17th. Reports suggest that there will be roughly a 4 day reprieve from the snow and wind. Wish us well. The residents of Pine Ridge sorely need the bedding etc. that we have loaded to the brim of the 28 foot trailer.

Well, after another aborted attempt to leave last Sunday due to the huge storm.....we are planning to try again this Friday, Nov. 14. Please cover us in prayer as the weather still isn't the greatest, but any additional postponement would likely take us to next spring. The roughest segment might be that last half mile over some rugged roads back to the church. Thanks again for all your prayer support.

Well, a bit of a delay as our driver was out of the country, But he is back and everything looks to be in place. Should be loading the trailer and heading out soon!! Too bad it took so long as now we might have some nasty weather to contend with. Prayers requested for traveling mercies.

Trip Update. Will be loading up the trailer in the October 27-28 range and heading out. Still in need of Gas money if you feel like helping. Bless all who are supporting us with prayers and funding.

UPDATE: A gentleman has stepped forward with a 28 foot trailer and volunteered to drive all the donated items to the reservation late October. Our friend Pastor Cecelia Spotted Bear from the Lakota Memorial Church of the Nazarene and her family will see to it that these needed items will find their way into the right hands. Praise The Lord!!! We still need more funding for gas and lodging but trust it twill come through!

Last minute PLEA. Help needed. We stored all those wonderful goods from Comfort Inn over the winter....but due to health issues.....both Cindy and Herb, and Pat and I have not been unable to do much this year to plan, promote, and pay for the delivery of those wonderful and very needed items. Additionally we lost three key people who have been stanch helpers and supporters due to tragedies. So, We desperately need some volunteers and some donors to step up if we are to deliver these goods to the Lakota People on Pine Ridge in Sept or October before the bitter cold and snow. We need a driver and helper to get the 26 foot rental truck out to South Dakota one-way. And we need one or two more helpers to drive an additional vehicle to get everyone back...and to help distribute the items. Plus we need another $1500 in donations to cover truck rental, fuel, and lodging for the 4 nights for the trip. Any angels out there who feel the call?

GOOD NEWS!. We just were approached by the Comfort Inn Plainwell who helped us so greatly three years ago, and they are giving us 78 boxes of comforters, blankets, sheets, pillows etc after upgrading all the bedding in all their rooms. We are picking up and storing tomorrow and trusting that donations will come in to help us with the immediate costs, and to get these goods to the Lakota People in South Dakota who need them so much.
