Maegan Ann Dix, a Plainville resident, was only 21 when she died of a rare immunodeficiency disease last August 2017. Her death hit friends and family hard, but in the following months they have created a foundation in her memory, Maegan's Warrior Foundation, which is overseen by seven members and based in her hometown of Plainville.
Family and friends, who held a Christmas tree lighting and candle ceremony in December 2017 for Maegan, are raising money to help families with medical crises and for a scholarship in her name for a student at Norfolk County Agricultural High School, which she graduated from in 2014.
Maegan truly loved animals, especially her dog and cats. But her heart belonged to her horses, which she spent countless hours with. Countryside Farms in Attleboro was Maegan’s second home. Maegan was very much involved with the horse community. It was basically her second family, Maegan had a true love and need for animals.
In Maegan’s memory, we encourage people to follow their dreams, offer support to those that share Maegan’s passion for animals, assist patients and their families in the face of medical crisis.
