PACYC is happy to host “Raking Leaves & Making Applesauce: A book reading and signing with local author Bethany Benike” on November 15 at 2pm.

As a photographer, naturalist, nature writer, gardener, and farmer, Bethany's books introduce people to nature, regenerative farming, and local food systems with the hope of helping readers develop a deeper appreciation and respect for the natural world.

She will be reading from her books “Raking Leaves” and “Making Applesauce.” These books evoke fond memories for both adults & children through a combination of nostalgia & natural facts paired with her own beautiful photography.

This event is free and open to all ages—donations are welcome and will help fund future programming at the Plainview Area Community & Youth Center. Bethany will have copies of her books available for purchase, and guests are welcome to have them signed.

Photos from two fun events today:

Halloween Coffee BINGO—some of the ladies dressed up!

Then later, after school with 4-H. The kids had a great time making slime and stress balls, and chatting about relaxation techniques. Snacks were a hot topic as well 😅

What a wonderful evening of crafting! I wish I’d taken more pictures, so if you have any from tonight, please do share them in the comments!

We want to thank each and every person who came today. It truly means so much to us to see community members gather together in our space. Thank you for coming to see us!

A special thank you to Amy Lorentz of The Knot & Nail for donating her time and supplies to this project. She worked so hard and so quickly on this!

And on that note, thank you to everyone who brought supplies, set up, cleaned up, and showed up. Community programming is something that truly takes a team effort, and our community members did not disappoint.

So thank you!
