🚨 BIG NEWS 🚨

Join us in giving a huge welcome to our 4 newest firefighters!

These recruits have been grinding through an in-depth, hands-on training process, putting in the time, effort, and dedication it takes to earn their place on the line. From day one, they’ve embraced the standard—and they’re just getting started.

All four firefighters have now been assigned to their respective shifts and are continuing to sharpen their skills every tour, working through their rookie books to become proficient in driving and operating our apparatus, while completing the qualifications required for their riding assignments. This is where the real work begins.

Shift Assignments:
• Firefighter Nick Moorehead — A-Shift
• Firefighter Tyler Ely — B-Shift
• Firefighter Jacob Haas — C-Shift
• Firefighter Ryan Clancy — D-Shift

This milestone wouldn’t be possible without the continued support of the Township of Plainsboro and our Fire Department leadership, whose commitment to staffing and safety has brought us to 4 firefighters per shift—meeting the NFPA minimum staffing for fire apparatus. That’s a win for our members and for the community we serve.

To our newest members: stay hungry, stay focused, and trust the process. The job isn’t given—it’s earned every single day.

Welcome to the job.

Apartment Fire With Victim Trapped & Rescued

At 11:51 PM last night the fire department was dispatched for smoke coming from an apartment in the Ravens Crest neighborhood. The 4 on-duty firefighters staffing Squad 49 arrived on the scene 5 minutes and 52 seconds later, immediately stretching a hoseline to the third floor. When the crew arrived, they did not observe any conditions, but spoke with a neighbor who reported hearing someone screaming for help, and smoke had been seen issuing from under the apartment door.

Firefighters quickly forced entry and encountered heavy smoke and a fire in the apartment. After knocking the fire down with a hose line, they located and removed an unconscious victim from the apartment. Plainsboro Police and Rescue Squad administered care and transported the patient to the hospital for treatment. The fire was contained to the apartment of origin.

Additional fire companies from PPPL (66), Princeton (60), Monroe (23 & 57), Hightstown (41) and Cranbury (48) operated on the scene. East Windsor (42) and Kingston (24) provided coverage while our members operated.

While the snow was piling up, the members of Plainsboro Professional Firefighters Local 4954 were hard at work behind the scenes and on the streets. 💪🔥

Throughout the blizzard, our firefighters:

🔴 Prepared and checked all apparatus and equipment
🔴 Ensured chainsaws, generators, and emergency tools were response-ready
🔴 Responded to numerous calls for service across the township

When the roads are dangerous and visibility is low, we don’t slow down — we gear up.

Your Plainsboro firefighters remain committed 24/7, in every season and every storm, to protecting our community. Help us help you! If you have a fire hydrant along your property line or see a fire hydrant buried in snow, Kindly assist us in clearing around it 3 feet! Thank you!

Tower 49 (B Shift) Responded on the 2nd alarm into South Brunswick Township (Monmouth junction FD) yesterday for a fire in a multi family dwelling. Initially reported as a chimney fire, it spread into the attic space and adjoining unit. Our crew worked to control fire spread in 3rd floor and attic of the adjoining unit, preventing further extension beyond.

This was the second fire of the shift, with the crew having assisted Princeton Plasma Physics FD with an electrical fire in a laboratory on their site earlier in the day. This was newly hired full time Firefighter Tyler Ely’s first Shift.

As the snowstorm moved through our area yesterday, we are asking that everyone keeps an eye on the fire hydrants near your home or business. Fire hydrants are a critical lifeline for firefighters, and they must be accessible at all times.

Why clearing snow from hydrants matters:
• Snow-covered hydrants can cause dangerous delays for us getting water during a fire
• Every second counts when protecting lives, homes, and property
• A buried hydrant may be impossible to locate in an emergency

If you see a hydrant buried or partially covered, please help by clearing at least 3 feet of snow around it and a clear path from the street. That small action can make a lifesaving difference.

Thank you to our community for stepping up during winter weather and helping us help you!
