We were pleased to be part of the Community Partner tent at Railfest 2026, celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the arrival of Steamtown from Bellows Falls, VT. We met some wonderful individuals and families and hopefully inspired people young and old to stay interested and get more involved in railroading. Whether at a local tourist operation, a club or in your basement, the hobby provides hours of fun and an opportunity to learn and grow together. We look forward to our Open House season and will post our schedule shortly. See you soon!

South to Spencer! The MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority) 250th Anniversary engine is on the way to Spencer, NC for the gathering of numerous specially painted 250 locomotives. Coincidentally, one of the locomotives that will join the MBTA GP40M-3 is the Milwaukee Road 156, the SD40-2 painted in 1975 for the Bicentennial celebration which has been preserved and faithfully restored. Show here in model form on the branchline, whether it's 1976 or 2026, we always have wide and exciting variety of trains to share with the public. Stay tuned for information on Railfest and our Open House season!

Much like taking a new car for a test drive, locomotive manufacturers roster small "Demonstrator" fleets of their newest locomotives. The intention of these units is for the railroad companies to test out and determine if they will commit to buying the new power. With price tags ranging from $1.5 to $2.3 million dollars each, these assets are produced to order numbers rather than sitting in a dealership.

Here we see a model of one of the two demonstrators (EMDX 8000 & 8001) for the 5000-horsepower Electro-Motive SD80MAC leading one of the club member's trains through the "Hudson" interlocking and into "Coxton" yard.

Happy Fourth of July everyone! We hope you have a great day celebrating our nation’s founding and our continuing freedom. This year is particularly special, being it is the 250th Anniversary of our great country which was founded on July 4th, 1776 in Philadelphia, PA. Last weekend, we hosted an American-themed open house, with the emphasis being on our nation’s colors; red, white, and blue.

Many railroads in 1976 painted locomotives into “Bicentennial” paint schemes, which we showcased. This year for the “Semiquincentennial”, many real railroads are currently getting into the same trend.

Enjoy this gallery of photos from this past weekend, and make sure to stay tuned for our winter open house dates announcement! Enjoy the holiday and be safe. 🇺🇸 🚂 🎆

It is with great sadness that we at the Hudson Model Railroad Club recognize the passing of Jody Nichols, age 65, after a long battle with cancer. Jody was a member of the club for many years and was a driving force behind the layout and the Pocono & Hudson Railroad proto freelance that we embrace today. Our hearts go out to those who knew and loved Jody and wish them peace as they continue life's journey without his presence. We are grateful to have known Jody and shared this wonderful hobby with him.
For more information and condolences, please visit the Charles H. Litwin Funeral Home, Nicholson, PA.
