🎶Q&A with Heidi🎶
⭐️Lives in: Plainfield VT
⭐️Instagram handle:
⭐️When was your first VH camp? 2006 at Becky’s Roundhouse in Mass with Peter and Mary Alice Amidon
⭐️What is one of your favorite VH memories? Traveling in Basque Country with Northern Harmony in 2019 and eating incredible pintxos with Larry, and then seeing the local Basque teen ensemble share their traditional farewell song and dance!
⭐️What is one of your favorite musical experiences/memories outside of Village Harmony? For my fourtieth birthday I invited a small group of friends into a cave and we sang in the total darkness for an unknowable amount of time—feeling the harmonies reverberate deeper into the hidden passages.
⭐️When you’re not singing or teaching, what are some of your favorite things to do with your spare time? Canoeing in cold clear water in wild places!
⭐️What are some special projects you’re working on right now? I am working on two recording projects right now…. One is the soundtrack for The Well Tree, an original musical that I created with my beloved Heartwood triomates (and Village Harmony buddies) Sarina Partridge and W***y Clemetson. And the other is a recording of songs for the seasons with Village Harmony singing dream team: Sarina Partridge, W***y Clemetson, Gideon Crevosay, Maisie Dolan, Liam Kantor, and Stefan Amidon; and marvelous production team: Nicholas Williams and Yann Falquet
⭐️And I’ve been involved with singing resistance work inspired by my time in Minneapolis. In this moment, collective singing offers us a chance to stand up against rising authoritarianism and violence in a way that is also simultaneously creating the world that we want to inhabit- one rooted in love. I’ve been watching the song ‘Hold On’ make its journey around the world as people sing in solidarity with Minneapolis and beyond. Check out Erica Heilman’s podcast Rumblestrip to hear more.
