This is the painting that was given to the tellers of the bank in Windsor VT for helping Parrish with his checkbook. The tellers almost lost it once when it was offered for sale. Recently the bank closed and the town is helping to save it a second time and keep it where it belongs in Windsor ! Just like Plainfield - making sure the stage set stays in Plainfield NH.

Saint-Gaudens first came to Cornish in 1885, where he rented the former boarding house he would later transform into Aspet. Here on the front lawn from left to right: his brother Louis St. Gaudens, assistant and protege Frederick William MacMonnies, son Homer, wife Gussie, Saint-Gaudens, and two family dogs.

Today we begin our fundraising on NH Gives. Make your donations between June 9 at 5 p.m. and June 10 at 5 p.m. 24 hours of giving!!On June 9-10, we are participating in NH Gives.

This is a chance to support the preservation of a rare piece of American art and local history: the original 1916 Maxfield Parrish Stage Set inside Plainfield Village Town Hall.

The goal is to protect the stage set, care for the building around it, and keep the Town Hall active as a community space for the next generation, just as past generations kept it here for us.

Donations through NH Gives help with the practical work behind that goal: preservation, public viewing days, events, and sharing the stage set’s story with more people.

Even a small donation helps keep this work moving forward.

To find us during NH Gives, visit www.nhgives.org and search "Maxfield Parrish"

Please mark your calendar for June 9-10, and help us save, preserve and share this piece of Plainfield history.

The Maxfield Parrish Stage Set and Plainfield Town Hall Committees are delighted to hear that the Parrish painting is staying in Windsor where it belongs. See the link below for the Valley News article. Parrish’s work is an important part of our history and heritage in both communities. In Plainfield, we continue to raise money to preserve and protect our Maxfield Parrish Stage Set in the Plainfield Town Hall. Maxfield Parrish provided these as gifts to the communities and people he loved and appreciated.

Our set will be available for public viewing on the 2nd Sunday of each month June to October from 1-5 this year. Admission is by donation.
