Yesterday, El Dorado Community Foundation had the pleasure of celebrating with Women’s Fund El Dorado (WFED) at their Annual Membership Gala!

Established in 2007, WFED has been a leader in the collective giving movement, changing the face of philanthropy in El Dorado County and demonstrating what’s possible when women come together with a shared commitment to their community.

The afternoon was a wonderful celebration of the members who make this incredible impact possible. It also marked a special changing of the guard as we expressed our heartfelt gratitude to outgoing Chair, Amarik Singh, for her dedicated leadership and welcomed Teri Whiting as WFED’s incoming Chair.

The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office of Emergency Services (OES) is coordinating with PG&E and local public safety partners to support impacted communities.

Yesterday was a beautiful reminder that meaningful community change begins by listening.

We started our morning at the El Dorado County Office of Education (EDCOE) Community-Based Organizations Breakfast, connecting with the incredible community based organizations who show up every day to strengthen El Dorado County.

We ended our day gathered around a table at Golden Sierra High School in Georgetown, listening to community members share what makes the Divide special, what’s working well, and their hopes and aspirations for the future.

Two gatherings, different parts of our county, but one common thread: the greatest opportunities for meaningful change happen when we listen, build relationships, and work together.

A quote from Richard Harwood set the tone for the day:

“A community cannot be ‘fixed,’ especially by those from the outside.”

Our role at the El Dorado Community Foundation isn’t to arrive with all the answers. It’s to listen, learn, connect people and resources, and help communities realize the future they envision for themselves.

Because the strongest communities aren’t built FOR people. They’re built WITH people.

Grateful for a day filled with thoughtful conversations, shared aspirations, and the reminder that the most important work begins simply by pulling up a chair and listening. We were rewarded for our efforts with a stunning El Dorado County sunset.

Tahoe Women’s Community Fund (TWCF) celebrates awarding $1 million in grants since inception this year! A celebrate they did … this past Monday the collecting giving group gathered in celebration of this significant milestone. 🎊

Behind every TWCF grant is a story of lives touched, opportunities created, and neighbors helping neighbors. Together, these remarkable women (and a few good men) are making a lasting difference and ensuring South Lake Tahoe remains a wonderful place to live, work, and play for generations to come.

The El Dorado Community Foundation could not be prouder to partner with this inspiring group, who demonstrate what is possible when generosity meets a shared commitment to community.

Today, our hearts are heavy as we mourn the tremendous loss of our leader, Gael Barsotti, a true friend, neighbor, and pillar of the Apple Hill community.

For 50 years, Gael has been a staple of Camino and Apple Hill — someone whose generosity, kindness, and commitment helped shape the spirit of El Dorado County and whose impact reaches across generations. This is more than the loss of a community member — it is the loss of one of the people who helped define what makes our little corner of the world so special. Gael’s legacy of service and love for others will continue to live on in the countless lives touched along the way.



Our deepest condolences go out to the Barsotti family, friends, and all who knew and loved Gael. Apple Hill, El Dorado County, and the Barsotti Juice Company will never be the same.

Services will be held at 11am, Thursday, October 29, 2026, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Placerville, CA.
