As we count down to our annual fundraiser, we are thrilled to unveil the very first donated client artwork available for this year’s event!

When Ron began working with us, he had not painted in years due to cognitive and vision challenges. “It gives me a purpose,” he said. “There is something about the ocean. It feels like eternity.”

When he donated this 30 x 40 inch painting, Ron was asked what looking at the ocean felt like.

Thoughtfully, he replied, “Do you remember that show that had a quote at the beginning? It said, ‘Man, woman, birth, death, infinity.’” It was clear that this quote touched him deeply, inspiring his
title, Infinity.

A few weeks ago, the team at Artisan Mind had a wonderful time filling our creative cups. We joined one another at Town Square Folsom, where we received an incredible tour of the facility, and then settled into the art studio for some much-needed creativity.

Everyone began painting anything they wished on their canvas for 15 minutes. When the time was up, we moved our canvases to the left and painted on the next one. Adding our touch to the previous artist’s work.

The results were funny, whimsical, unexpected, and beautiful. We received the same benefits that our clients do: creative expression, social connection, a decrease in stress, and left feeling uplifted.

When we realized that one canvas had been flipped upside down during the process, we agreed it turned out better that way. Risa exclaimed, “Why does it always look better upside down?”

☀️Residents at Eskaton Land Park enjoyed celebrating the end of summer by painting rustic tomatoes. This expressive painting session was full of laughter and stories of gardening. The final results were these gorgeous paintings, fit for an Italian kitchen in the countryside.

🍅When Margaret saw that Pasqua had painted a bowl for her tomatoes, she exclaimed, “Those are beautiful! They look like Italian tomatoes.”

🎨Nancy proudly posed for a photo showcasing her painting, exclaiming, “I have so much fun doing this. I send these to my kids, and they love them.”

💜Moments like this remind us of how creative time with friends can strengthen social bonds, increase confidence, and improve cognitive function.

🍅The Vegetable Harvest, by Hermann Armin Kern, highlights one of the best parts of the summer season, harvesting delicious vegetables from your garden!

Residents at Golden Pond enjoyed this painting as part of our August Art Reveals collection: End of Summer Celebration.

Margaret said of the painting, “You can tell he’s proud of his display,” and Pauline agreed by noticing how he’s “gently holding” the tomato.

🥬Hazel said enthusiastically, “It’s always better when you grow it yourself.”

Sabra decided, “He looks like a gentleman, like he doesn’t do this for a living. Maybe he gives them away to neighbors and family.”

❤️ We love how this painting inspired conversation and laughter of shared memories of the joy of gardening.

🎨“I want to do this right,” Susan said, explaining her desire to make me and her son proud of her work.

We have been supporting our wonderful client, Susan, through creative enrichment sessions for 6 years. Throughout our time with her, she has always felt she was not a painter and declined to paint many times.

💜That all changed when Susuan suddenly became interested in trying out painting during a recent session. This has opened up a whole new world of creative exploration and connection.

🐑She has been working on this beautiful landscape painting and just this week was inspired to add sheep into the foreground.

When she and Risa, our Creative Enrichment Specialist, agreed to meet again to finish the painting, she said with delight, “Would you really come back? You’re a good friend.”

✨These moments remind us how important a friendship can be for those living with memory loss, and how building that trust can help someone feel safe enough to explore a new part of their creativity.

🏠When asked what the scene of the red barn meant to her, Loretta replied, “I think it’s nice that you come and share these presentations that speak to our insides.”

Her words prompted nods around the room as we paused to acknowledge how meaningful it is to gather and reflect on God, truth, and beauty and to tend to the deeper parts of ourselves.

🙏🏻Our Creative Enrichment Specialist, Katie, hosted this Art-Inspired Bible Study held at Revere Court earlier this month. She opened by moving the group through prayer and a gentle singing of How Great Thou Art.

💜This set a reflective tone for the session, which focused on an exploration of exceptionally beautiful photographs from around the world intended to stir a sense of wonder and awe.

Participants were invited to consider our divine Creator, and to answer deeper questions about life.

✨One meaningful moment can make all the difference. During a recent Creative Enrichment session with Risa, Barbara’s day shifted from one of struggle to one filled with purpose, connection, and joy—a beautiful example of the impact your support makes possible.

📚They explored art books together, animal paintings reminded her of her granddaughter, and she delighted in telling stories about her unique connection with animals.

❤️When saying goodbye, Barbara shared, “I was depressed today, I had a bad day, so I thought, I need her today. You brighten my day - I was crying, and now you and I are laughing!”

🏡We love it when our groups get involved with the creative process of choosing the inspiration for our painting sessions. The homeowners at Eskaton Village Placerville painted these rustic barns, a request from one of the residents.

The session encouraged confidence, engagement, and meaningful conversation as each artist created a unique interpretation of the scene.

🎨When Marianne arrived, she shared that she had never painted before and was having a “terrible day.” She was unsure about her ability to participate, but with encouragement, she experienced a
complete turnaround.

As the class progressed, Marianne found her rhythm with each step. By the end of the session, she was smiling and said, “I feel 100% better! This was fun.”
