The Spirit of Benny 10K/5K Fun Run & Walk event is in memory of little Benny who passed in 2010 at the young age of 5 from Battens Disease. He passed on and the tender age of 5. Benny was passionate about life. He touched the lives of so many with his bear-strength hugs when he was healthy, to his his sweet smile later on when he could no longer move or speak. Benny's spirit is powerful still and

We would like to offer our deepest gratitude to all who participated with such amazing enthusiasm on race day and all those who donated to the cause.
It was a beautiful sunny day filled with lots of happy faces and a generous spirit! Congratulations again to all our top finishers who really gave it their all! Together with sponsors, volunteers, participants and donors, all helped raise $5000 for New Morning Youth and Family Services in El Dorado County towards counseling for youth at risk. The $5000 donation can cover up to 250 counseling sessions for young people struggling with mental health issues such as PTSD, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, etc... and offer tools to family members to help support these children through their difficulties. Please mark your calendars for March 15th, 2025 @ 9am for The 14th Annual Spirit of Benny 10K/5K Fun Run and Walk details to follow in Fall 2024, we hope you can join us!

Our hearts are with the children, families and communities affected by the Pine Top Montessori tragedy.

The El Dorado Community Foundation is accepting monetary donations at http://bit.ly/PineTopvictims to support victims of the crash and their families. Donors are asked to put “Pine Top Montessori” in the memo line.

A GoFundMe has been set up for one of the children, which can be found at https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-juniper-and-her-family. The fundraiser was set up by Jillian Leach on behalf of her 4-year-old niece Juniper, who is in the ICU.
