Local 1 is gearing up for our next round of negotiations, and we’re holding a Negotiations Info Session tonight and tomorrow to explain what that means and how you can get involved.

Wednesday - Our regular monthly Board meeting will follow directly at 7:00 p.m., and members are welcome to stay and observe.

What the info session will cover
• What are negotiations?
How bargaining with the County works, timelines, and who’s involved.
• What does the time commitment look like?
Realistic expectations for being on the bargaining team or in a support role.
• Ways you can be involved, including:
o Information gathering from worksites and departments
o Data research and analysis (wage comparisons, turnover, cost of living, etc.)
o Writing and reviewing proposals and contract language
o Sitting at the negotiations table
o Note-taking and tracking issues
o Member communication and updates

You don’t need prior experience to participate—just an interest in improving our contract and a willingness to help. We’ll match people to roles that fit their time and comfort level.

If you’ve ever thought, “We need to do better in negotiations on this issue,” this is your opportunity to be part of that effort.
