Sierra Chaplaincy We are a faith-based team with a secular purpose: to add value to the agencies we serve. Welcome to the Sierra Chaplaincy.

We help first responders do their jobs, from providing spiritual and emotional first aid to citizens at the scene of a tragedy, to ride alongs and chats over coffee. We are a team of volunteer chaplains led by Senior Chaplain Betsy Vanderpool and team leads Roxanne Alby - Folsom, Kristi Miller-Mayhew - EDSO, Shirley Hampton - Amador and Kristen Weckworth - Tahoe. ers at El Dorado County Sheriffs, Folsom Police Department, Placerville Police Department, El Dorado County Probation, El Dorado County Jail and Amador Couty. This program services the needs of all law enforcement individuals who work in El Dorado and Amador County. It is an ecumenical ministry that responds to the needs of victims, and officers regardless of religion, belief, denominational background, or lack thereof.

Our hearts are broken as we have to confirm that Ryan Marietti, a Correctional Officer with the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office, assigned to the South Lake Tahoe Jail, was tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident early Friday morning. It is never easy to lose someone so young, but to lose a member of our LE family is beyond comprehension. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ryan's family, friends, and co-workers. Thank you, Ryan, for your dedicated service, your amazing work ethic, and the bright light that you were to so many who knew you. You will not be forgotten. Godspeed, young man. EOW 08-28-2026.

Sierra Chaplaincy is proud to partner with the El Dorado County Sheriff's Department by presenting a segment about the Chaplaincy during the EDSO Citizens Academy. The academy began on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. The Academy, held on consecutive Wednesdays from 6 pm- 8 pm, is a 16-week "behind the scenes" look at the many ways your Sheriff's Department protects and serves the citizens of El Dorado County. Pictured on opening night are (L to R), Deputy Alicia Christ, Deputy Julian Sandoval, Under-Sheriff Eric Palmberg, Chaplain Michelle Cereghino, Sheriff Jeff Leikauf, Senior Chaplain Lloyd Ogan, and Lt. Thank you, Officer Austin, for your selfless service to our country and our community. Congratulations to Folsom PD for standing behind their officers with grace and dignity. Many of our Chaplains had an amazing time last night interacting with residents and First Responders at various locations throughout The City of Folsom and El Dorado County during The National Night Out 2026 celebration. Additionally, we had Chaplains riding along with Deputies and Officers at both LE Agencies. Thanks to all who stopped by and said hi. We love serving our communities alongside these heroes.
