The Foothills of El Dorado branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) is having our spring general
membership meeting Saturday May 9 th at the El Dorado County main library branch in Placerville at 1:00.

The guest speaker is Charmen Goehring, who is President of the California State AAUW organization. Following a brief business
meeting for the election of officers, Charmen will discuss diversity, equity and inclusion. She will share information on the successes
and setbacks of DEI. The discussion will include discussion of what DEI is, the systemic obstacles to DEI, and examples of how
programs created to mitigate DEI have affected our lives. Charmen will also touch on how universities and colleges in California
have been affected recently.

The meeting, which is free and open to the public, will be held 1:00 – 2:30 pm at the Placerville Public Library, 345 Fair Lane in
Placerville. Anyone who joins AAUW at a branch meeting receives half-off National dues the first year. That is a savings of $38 for a
total National, State, and branch membership dues of $88.
