SLS is an underused, state-funded, private program that provides support to a single, high functioning adult so they can live in their own home independently. SLS staff are trained to provide support through skills training & they provide assistance through encouragement, positive communication and teamwork. This is NOT a caregiver position.

SLS is a self directed program that provides skills training & indivialized support to a single, independent adult. Without support, SLS recipients could not live on their own. Experience is not necessary and training is provided. Applicants must be of good character, have a clean background and driving record (company car provided) and have good work ethic to work here!

Compass Rose Ranch is an SLS agency seeking staff that are those things and more! We are actively hiring for two positions, (1) 3-10pm (shift differential) full time with benefits and (1) varied shift position (shift differential) and you can pick your hours.

We are a very fun and supportive group of professionals that support a very cool, fun-loving, active young adult with autism. He is one cool dude and he loves his staff and to be active in the community. He does not need a caregiver. He needs a strong mentor that can provide support and encouragement so that he can continued live successfully in his own home. He needs guidance, reminders, help with planning, and he needs you to be kind, firm with boundaries, willing to commit to being at work when you’re scheduled, and to be a generally helpful person.

This is a rewarding role and this client is fun! He has a fantastic sense of humor, he loves to go out to eat, shop for rare finds at thrift stores, and he is well recognized by several shop owners on Main Street because of his animated, fun loving disposition. He is simplistic, but smart. He needs guidance so he can live independently and remain safe in his home and the community.

All current staff are very awesome people and they are a very significant contribution to this young man, providing a great environment where he is able to live a very meaningful life because of their commitment to him and their professionalism. The client is a 21 year old male with autism. He is independent and lives in his own home. He presents with some cognitive delays and needs supervision at home and in the community. He is highly verbal, enjoys accessing the community, loves collecting antiques and he has a great sense of humor. He can bathe himself and he used the bathroom independently. He needs a lot of verbal prompting!

This is not a typical caregiver position. It is a supportive position that allows the client to learn independence in his own home. This position supports only this one client. He lives in a super cute bungalow near El Dorado High School and a company car is provided while staff are working with him.

This position reports to the House supervisor/Community Support Facilitator.

He also has a great sense of humor! This is not a caregiver position, it’s a supportive position that allows the client to learn in his own home. This position supports only this one client. He lives in a super cute bungalow near El Dorado High School and a company car is provided while staff are working with him. A staff bedroom/staff office is fully furnished and provided for overnight shifts.

Position Summary

The client has cognitive impairments and autism. Support can and will be provided in several different ways including, in the client’s home, community, school and in other recreational environments. Staff are expected to understand, model, maintain and value the goals, purpose and philosophies of Supportive Living Services.

This position reports to the House supervisor/Community Support Facilitator.
Supported Living Services or SLS is a regulated service under TITLE 17 and is monitored and governed by both Alta California Regional Center and California Department of Social Services (CDSS). Employees are expected to have knowledge of the regulatory policies and have an adequate understanding of the 5 principles of SLS service delivery.
The 5 principles of SLS include:
1. Individual’s live in their own home safely and securely, choosing what happens in their home now and in the future;
2. Individual’s are self-directed in the way they live now and in the future; they are supported to communicate their preferences and provided accommodations and supports to express their wants and needs and they plan for their own future;
3. Individual’s have a circle of support of their own choosing and who support them either paid or unpaid and who work together for the benefit of the individual;
4. Individual’s participate in their own community as often as they want and in ways they find meaningful now and in the future. They utilize community resources and join clubs, or religious groups that are their own choice.
5. Individual’s have an individualized plan that is centered exclusively on their needs and wants, services are provided in the home and community when and where they choose, and offer opportunities to learn, develop confidence and improve their quality of life.
