Women's Club of Pittsford

Women's Club of Pittsford The Women's Club of Pittsford is a non-profit, voluntary organization formed in friendship and dedicated to charitable, civic and educational purposes.

The Women's Club of Pittsford was founded in 1984 and federated that same year. We are members of the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC), the largest nondenominational, nonpartisan, international service organization of volunteer women. Our Club offers many opportunities to participate in community service projects, educational programs, fund-raising efforts and social activities. General

meetings are held once each month from September through June. Meetings consist of a business meeting and an educational program. Throughout our Club's history, making a difference in our community has been of the utmost importance. With our actions speaking louder than words, the Women's Club of Pittsford has contributed over $320,000.00 to Rochester area nonprofit organizations serving those in need.

A wonderful tour this week at the Pittsford Cemetery by Vicki Masters-Profitt, Town historian. She is so knowledgeable and showed us graves and stories of PITTSFORD leaders, war heroes, and members of the women’s equity group. She is also giving a tour on Saturday of Civil War Soldiers at the cemetery at 10 AM. Tom Behringer from the Rayson-Miller American Legion Post 899 joined in and we were able to see the grave of Henry Miller. Our post was named after him after he died in combat in World War I in France.

This Thursday, our PITTSFORD TOWN historian Vicky gave us a wonderful lecture on the Pittsford Cemetery and people buried there. Many of our towns founding fathers are buried in the Pittsford Cemetery. Founded in 1842. It’s 29 acres with 9800 current grades. Vicki gave us some highlights of some of the people buried there and will conduct a tour on Wednesday, May 20th - 10 AM. Meet by the flagpole at the veterans plot.

We collected diapers and gloves for Margaret’s place this month. Don’t forget to sign up for our installation banquet if you haven’t already. It will be held at Shadow Lake at 5:30 PM on Thursday, June 11.

So nice to see Judy Yaneka back with us!

Several of us had a wonderful time discovering Seneca Falls today. We went to the national women’s Hall of Fame, Lunch at Cafe 19, and the National Park service Womens Rights National Historic park, where we watched a movie and a national park guide named Josh gave us an interesting talk the declaration of sentiments held in 1848 at the Wesleyan Chapel in Seneca Falls- I would highly recommend this as a day trip!

Have you ever taken a cookie decorating class? Joanne Fiori, Pat Block, and Joyce Wiedrich met at Radio Social for our April activity. It was relaxing and a lot of fun. We had quite a few laughs as we decorated our Easter cookies.
