Saint's Place is a volunteer organization based on Christian values, that provides household goods, clothing and education to legal refugees of all races and creeds who settle in Rochester, New York. This means that they cannot return to their homes due to instability in the area. Many of these individuals have spend years in refugee camps waiting and hoping for a country to accept them. Our goal
is to provide these newly arrived refugees with a furnished and functional home. We are always in need of furnature, lamps, draperies, appliances, linens, pots and pans, dishes, toys for the children and various other household items. In addition to our location on 46 South Main Street in Pittsford, we operate a clothing closet at St. We are in need of donated clothing for men, women and children. The winter months bring a desperate need for coats and boots. Imagine having to walk everywhere you need to go in the bitter cold! All clothing donated should be clean and in wearable condition. We also provide a weekly tutoring program for refugees of all ages at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Spirit in Rochester. During tutoring sessions, students are able to learn about American culture as well as English and other school subjects. Such skills are imperative for these individuals to pursue higher education and secure jobs, making the process of resettlement complete. Financial support is always needed and greatly appreciated. While certainly much of our organization is based on used donated items, there are certain necessities that we insist on purchasing new for our refugees. These items include underware, toiletries, socks, pillows, school supplies and beds.
