*CALL TO LOCAL MENTAL HEALTH NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS*

NAMI is excited to be putting on our second Youth Mental Health Wellness Fair on Saturday, July 11th in conjunction with the Roots Rising Pittsfield Farmers Market. We were so thrilled with how the event turned out last year that our board has spent the months since thinking about how we can make this year even better for our community. After seeing what a successful turnout the event had in its first year (close to 250 attendees!!), we see the potential this event has to reach even more of our local youth.

The event promises fun on-site activities for youth of all ages in our community that are completely FREE for all attendees. Just to name a few - we had painting activities (including shirts, wellness rocks and flowerpots), plant your own flower pots, friendship bracelets, and even a "musical petting zoo."

While the activities proved to be a big hit last year and we plan to add even more activities to the list, the local non-profit organizations who participated in the event were equally as important. One of the most crucial things we aim for this event to provide to youth and their caregivers are resources that are available to them. Our country as a whole has felt the effect of the scarcity in mental health professionals and accessibility to mental health help when some need it most, and our community is no stranger to this.

What many don't know is that we are incredibly lucky to have a great deal of amazing local non-profit organizations right here in our community who provide integral resources and services to the public and help to fill the void that many feel when looking for mental health care.

If you are an organization who offers resources and services to the youth in our community, please reach out to us! We would love to provide a space for you to get the word out about your organization, as well as an opportunity to directly connect with youth as well as their caregivers.

Please reach out to us ASAP if you are interested, and no later than Friday, June 12th. You can email us at [email protected] or message us directly.

We cannot wait to see everyone next month! ◡̈ And feel free to check out the article linked below to see last years event

Mental Health Awareness Month is a reminder that taking care of our mental well-being is just as important as taking care of our physical health. Each May, we recognize the importance of breaking the stigma surrounding mental health, encouraging open conversations, and supporting one another through life’s challenges.

Mental health affects everyone, our families, friends, coworkers, and communities. It’s okay to not be okay, and it’s okay to ask for help. Whether it’s checking in on a friend, taking time for self-care, or seeking professional support, every step toward mental wellness matters.

This month, let’s commit to listening without judgment, speaking with compassion, and reminding those around us that they are not alone. Together, we can create a culture where mental health is understood, supported, and prioritized every day, not just in May.
