Every lived experience deserves to be heard. Every story has the power to create connection.

This World Mental Health Day, we're recognizing the importance of real voices and the meaningful change that can happen when people feel safe sharing their mental health experiences.

For Sarah Merritt Ryan, co-facilitating a NAMI support group became more than an opportunity to help others. It became a place to find community, share experiences, learn from others, and continue her own journey of recovery.

Her story reminds us that when we listen to people with lived experience, we create opportunities for understanding, belonging, and hope.

Another memorable NAMI Annual Meeting in the books! While our board meets every single month, there is no doubt that this meeting is always our favorite of the year. It’s a night we get to spend with you all, celebrate what we’ve done, and think about the upcoming year ahead. We also get to celebrate our mental health heroes in our community with their loved ones, and the room is always bursting full of love and support from start to finish.

This year, we were so lucky to have our newest board member Kayla Allen of Upside413 as our guest speaker. Her presentation on how we perceive conflict, as well as how our perception of ourselves and others shapes how we handle conflicts in our lives was incredibly done! I think we all left with valuable insight on how to reframe conflict in our minds and better approach it when we face it next.

And of course, celebrating our award winners is something that we are so grateful to be able to do year after year. Getting to acknowledge the impact that their work and advocacy has for those struggling with mental health struggles in our community is something we never take lightly or for granted.

Ruth, Deb, and Maureen - our community is better because of the selfless and compassionate humans that you are 💙

Thank you to all who attended and who support the mission of NAMI. It is because of all of you that we are able to continue to make positive changes in our community for everyone affected by mental health struggles in some way. We are already looking forward to another great Annual Meeting next year!

Hey friends! We know we’ve been posting a lot more than we typically do this week. From shouting out our award winners, our amazing guest speaker, and reminding you all what a deal our $25 Annual Meeting tickets are. It’s not often we inundate your feeds with posts, we just couldn’t help it knowing how close our Annual Meeting is (this Tuesday, October 6th, btw) and what a deal the tickets are for each of you! It feels unfair to not let you in on what you’d be missing out on if you didn’t join us.

And aside from the evening being spent celebrating our mental health champions, the interactive and rich dialogue our guest speakers always generate among the group, the priceless raffle prizes, and delicious food - your ticket gets you in the room with us to let us know what areas of support you think our community needs us to focus on this upcoming year. Each year this meeting serves as a pivotal connection from us to those of you that have meaningful and valuable input on what our community needs.

It would feel wrong to not take every opportunity we have to be sure you all know about our Annual Meeting this Tuesday so you can be a part of it if you wish! We love to see you all there each year and look forward to the connection it gives us to those of you that care as much about our mission as we do ♡

Our last (but certainly not least) Annual Meeting Award Winner spotlight !!! -

Meet Ruth Healy, this year’s winner for our Eunice E. Zorbo Member of the Year Award!

Our Member of the Year award holds near and dear to our hearts each and every year. It is a time for our board to publicly recognize and celebrate a fellow board member we see go above and beyond for NAMI’s mission in every way possible throughout the year.

From joining NAMI in 2010 as Board Secretary to becoming our Board President in 2018 (thanks to her start in the Berkshire Leadership Program), Ruth has been an absolute pillar of our organization.

Her unwavering commitment shows in everything she does—whether she’s writing crucial grants, helping create the Youth Wellbeing Fair, or quietly stepping up to handle any task that needs doing. Ruth is incredibly hard-working, never complains, and would give anything to help someone in need.

Beyond her incredible work with us, she brings that same helpful, warm heart to her role in customer service at Big Y, serving our community every single day. Ruth is also a beloved wife, mom and devoted Dalmatian lover!

Thank you, Ruth, for your dedication, kindness, and incredible heart. We appreciate you so much! 💙

Time for another Annual Meeting Award Winner Spotlight! -

Meet Maureen Logan, this year’s winner for our Silver Ribbon Mental Health Advocate Award!

Maureen is the Director of Wellness & Community Health for Berkshire Health Systems (BHS). The fundamental work she does advances health and wellness in our region by bringing care outside of the walls of BHS’s facilities. She has expanded the work she does in her role across all of Berkshire County so that all residents have the tools they need to live healthier lives.

The work she facilitates in our community helps to provide education and resources that span across a wide variety of areas of needs.

And not only does Maureen provide education and advocacy for community members outside of the BHS walls, but she provides advocacy and education programs to those working within the BHS walls as well.

We are so grateful for Maureen’s work and advocacy throughout our community. We hope you’ll join us in celebration and recognition of the profound impact she has.
