This poem is dedicated for our next issue of Fronteras but Matthew Brinton, author, said it was ok to post early on Facebook. We really love this one!
“Healing Mercy”
By Matthew Brinton
I saw a woman in obvious pain - physical, emotional, spiritual
Maybe it was the result of her sin that got her into big trouble
Trapped inside her own personal hell - the bars impenetrable
My eyes were buried in a book - the topic: mercy
I looked up and saw the object of God’s mercy
Is God calling me to be a mercy missionary
To a desperate soul such as she?
Is it enough to have mercy in my heart,
With no mercy in my steps?
Mercy in my eyes,
With lazy drooping hands?
Yet, it’s those who have received
That are most indebted to give
But not under the compulsion of the guilt-trip
But freely
Like a river flowing
The water not meriting its forward momentum
But bending, eroding stale-hearted shores
Of souls that are destined to freshen, blossom
( he shared w me this am: would love to publish in Fronteras again!:)
