What if the scars of past generations are etched into our DNA? Discover how epigenetics might explain the transmission of trauma across family lines.

In 2016, researchers at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York released a study that shook the scientific world. They examined the genetic makeup of Holocaust survivors and their children.

The team found specific chemical markers on the genes of the children that matched the trauma responses of their parents. These markers were not part of the DNA sequence itself, but rather how the body reads those genes.

This process is known as epigenetics. It suggests that a person's environment and experiences can leave a physical footprint on their biology.

These changes can influence how we handle stress and anxiety today. It provides a biological look at what many families have called generational burdens for centuries.

Understanding this science offers a path toward healing. It proves that while we may inherit a vulnerability, we also possess the resilience to change our own stories.

Jimmy Kimmel appeared visibly emotional in his monologue following the killing of ICU nurse Alex Pretti by federal agents in Minneapolis. He said, "...to the people of Minneapolis, to the Pretti family and the Good family and these people who were looking out for their neighbors, we want you to know that we are with you and you are not alone." Near the end of his monologue, Kimmel said, "Alex Pretti was an ICU nurse who treated veterans, which is about as patriotic, I think, as it gets." Read the full story here:

Amid a multi-sided legal, political, and governmental battle, Gov. Josh Shapiro on Friday afternoon said full federal food-stamp benefits for people who were eligible on Nov. 1 were being sent out as he spoke, but future payments were uncertain because of the ongoing fight.

The Democratic governor’s announcement in Philadelphia included a fiery condemnation of Republican Vice President J.D. Vance, who reportedly called “absurd” a federal judge’s ruling on Thursday that Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits should be distributed. Mr. Shapiro branded Mr. Vance a “phony” whose position on the issue was “shameful.”

The weekslong battle reached an important moment Thursday when a federal judge ordered that full November SNAP food benefits be distributed. Even though the administration of President Donald Trump appealed the order, Mr. Shapiro on Friday said the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services moved quickly to distribute money electronically.
