Today we thank Glenn Thompson for cosponsoring the bipartisan Alzheimer’s Screening and Prevention (ASAP) Act. The ASAP Act would redefine the standard of care for Alzheimer’s by allowing Medicare to cover routine blood tests. Join us in thanking the Congressman for his support of this important legislation.

Walk to End Alzheimer's Spotlight 💜

Michele L. McNamara, Director of Operations for McNamara Hearing Solutions (Miracle-Ear, Inc. of Dunmore), is making a remarkable impact in the fight against Alzheimer’s across Northeast Pennsylvania.

Michele is a dedicated member of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Walk Executive Leadership Team this year, and she and Miracle-Ear are stepping up as co-presenting sponsors for our 2026 Walk Kickoff Party. The event is scheduled for Friday, September 18, from 5-9 p.m. at Groove Brewing in Scranton and will bring together team captains, sponsors and volunteers to build momentum heading into Walk season.

Beyond her work with our Walk, Michele founded 100 Women Who Care NEPA in April 2026. The organization brings local women together quarterly to pool donations for regional non-profits, having raised $4,100 in June alone. Michele is now working with local partners to nominate the Alzheimer's Association Greater Pennsylvania Chapter as a charity of choice for an upcoming meeting, with awarded funds credited directly to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Walk to End Alzheimer's.

We are thrilled to spotlight Michele and Miracle-Ear for their outstanding leadership, community spirit and ongoing commitment to ending Alzheimer's.

yToday we shine a spotlight on Jeremy Frey, partner at Barley Snyder, who is our 2026 York Executive Event Co-Chair.

Jeremy volunteers for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s because this cause is deeply personal to him. His mother battled Alzheimer’s for several years before she passed away earlier this year. Watching her experience the progression of this disease, and the impact it had on his family, is something Jeremy says that he will never forget.

"I volunteer to help stop this terrible disease — to support the research, care and advocacy efforts that bring hope to families facing Alzheimer’s today and in the future. It’s one way I can honor my mother’s memory while contributing to a cause that matters so much.

This year, I am especially looking forward to another great Walk — coming together with our community, remembering those we’ve lost and supporting those still fighting. It’s also something my dog Rigby looks forward to each year, happily joining me and my wife Angie and our Barley Snyder team for the walk and soaking in the energy of the day. I’m excited to be part of it again and to help raise even more money than we have in prior years," shares Jeremy.

Join us in thanking Jeremy for his passion and dedication. To join him in making a difference this Walk season, visit alz.org/gpawalk today.

Walk to End Alzheimer's Partner Spotlight 💜

We're pleased to announce that Mitsubishi Chemical Group has renewed its support as a proud sponsor of the 2026 Scranton/Wilkes-Barre . As this year’s Pet Zone sponsor, this partner is helping create a welcoming, family-friendly space that encourages community connection while advancing the fight to end Alzheimer’s.

To make this year’s experience even more engaging, Mitsubishi Chemical Group is partnering with the Spca Of Luzerne County to bring adoptable dogs to Walk day! Participants are encouraged to arrive early to meet the animals, connect with local volunteers, and experience a meaningful example of community coming together around a shared cause.

Our thanks go out to Michelle Frost, John Lawzano and the entire team for all they do to help create a world without Alzheimer's and all other dementia. Inspited to make your impact? Visit alz.org/gpawalk today!
