Get Down for Democracy: A Grassroots Boot Scoot!

PIIN is co-sponsoring a fundraising event with two of our member congregations: Bidwell Presbyterian Church and Union Baptist Church of Swissvale. Join us for light refreshments and an evening of fun with our “Boots on the Ground” and our eyes on justice and the preservation of our democracy.

We are asking for a donation of $25 to attend the event, but as the clock strikes the hour, we will pause for more information about PIIN and its work in the community, and to give opportunities for further investment in our work.

As a result of an effort initiated by the PIIN Immigration Task Force, and with help from allied organizations and members of the Stowe Township community, the Township Commissioners voted 4-0 (1 absentee) to withdraw from their 287(g) cooperation agreement with ICE at their September 8th meeting.

Join us for our September 2026 Colorful Backgrounds EXPO community meeting at Pittsburgh Mennonite Church in Swissvale! Connect with other community members and enjoy a light meal, followed by a guest presentation from Senior Program Director at Foundation of HOPE, Jayla Jones:

Jayla Jones, Senior Program Director at Foundation of HOPE, is dedicated to creating pathways of hope, opportunity and transformation for young people, adults and families impacted by the justice system. She oversees Foundation of HOPE's Youth Diversion Program and Adult Reentry Program.

Foundation of HOPE takes a holistic approach to support individuals impacted by the criminal justice system. Inside the Allegheny County Jail, the organization provides chaplaincy services, programming and two housing unit HOPE Pods where participants complete a 6-8 week life-skills program and graduate with a certificate. In the community, Foundation of HOPE has an adult Reentry program and a Youth diversion program. Our Reentry program helps individuals navigate housing, employment, behavioral health and education after release, including rental assistance for eligible participants. Successful reentry is a community effort, and Foundation of HOPE welcomes volunteers, mentors, employers, landlords and faith communities as partners.
