“Changed my life”

For Tameika this work is more than a program… it’s personal.

Every day, she sees the strength, resilience, and humanity in those who walk through the doors. Because at Daily Bread, the people we serve are individuals with names, stories, and dignity.

Through conversation, consistency, and care, relationships are built. Strangers become familiar faces and over time, a community becomes a family.

Sometimes, all it takes is one person to show up, to listen, and to be there. And that can mean everything! ❤️

For over 60 years, Daily Bread, a program of United Methodist Church Union has been serving individuals and families experiencing homelessness and food insecurity on Pittsburgh’s Northside.

In this video, Program Director Bob Maravalli shares how Daily Bread goes beyond providing meals, creating a space rooted in dignity, connection, and community.

Serving hundreds of meals each week, the program remains committed to showing up consistently for those in need offering not just nourishment, but support and a sense of belonging.

Always a treat when the Epworth UMC ladies are serving! Thank you for your selfless giving and being apart of Daily Bread

Today we started video production for a series of content to be released in the coming weeks. We captured all of the action plus interviews with persons served, volunteers, and staff. Wonderful stories of hope and faith were shared, the room was full of joy and laughter, and 130+ were served. 🥖✝️

Today, we celebrate the hope, renewal, and promise of new life through Christ.

“I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.” John 11:25

Easter reminds us that even in our darkest moments, light breaks through. That loss is not the end of the story. That hope is alive.

At United Methodist Church Union, we are grateful to be part of a community rooted in faith, love, and the belief that new beginnings are always possible.

One year ago today, we lost the farm house to a fire that destroyed everything.

What we didn’t lose was our purpose.

Today, UMCU + Kidcelerate announced that we are rebuilding right here on this site. A new facility, nearly three times the size of the original, designed to serve more children, more families, and more of this community than ever before.
This new space represents resilience, renewal, and a promise that this neighborhood has not been forgotten. It also marks the renewal of a faith presence committed to hope, love, and long-term impact.

We will be back.
Stronger than before.
