On March 17, Texas State Lt. Daniel Crooks presented the Carnegie Medal to Trooper George W. Greenway IV during a ceremony at the Texas Department of Public Safety in Mount Pleasant, Texas. Greenway was recognized for his life-saving actions in El Paso, where he entered a fast-moving canal at night to rescue a woman being carried toward dangerous headgates. Acting without hesitation, he reached her, secured her, and brought her safely to shore. In a statement, the Texas Department of Public Safety praised Greenway’s “extraordinary courage and selfless action,” calling the presentation a proud moment for him, his family, and the department. A powerful example of bravery and an unwavering commitment to protecting others.
