Thanks to the generosity of Katherine Turner and the folks at Baja Bridges (a great organization to support) Italy and Lili have transportation to Italy's spinal surgery at Shriners in Sacramento! God is good! The mother-daughter team has also been accepted to stay at the Kiwanis Family House during their 10 week stay. This is where we could you some help. We are raising funds for their $60/day stay plus spending money for their time in the US. Could you cover a meal $20, a night's stay $60, a full day's needs $100, or their 10 weeks lodging $4,200? Please contribute at a level that works for you. Select the "2026 Surgery Support Fund" when you donate at CaringHeartsMexico.org/Donate. God bless you! Your kindness will change the lives of these two without a doubt!

The Shut-In Ministry - Pastor Gary Simpson

For more years than I can remember, a dynamic lady named Inés has run our ministry to shut-ins in San Luis. This indefatigable woman cares for well over forty people who are either incapacitated or too sick to leave their home.

Ines took us to see a woman way outside of town where the land is flat and desolate. This area used to be part of the dump which was burned and covered with a foot or two of sand. Here and there, lots, marked with rows of old tires and small shacks made out of wooden skids, cardboard, and plastic sheeting dotted the barren landscape. Our group pulled up to one and we were met by a woman named Norma. She had beautiful eyes set in a tired and weathered face.

Norma sat in a wheelchair working at a sink that was set on four legs right outside her door. Her home was tiny and part of it didn’t even have a roof. She and her teenaged son, who is autistic, made piñatas out of cardboard boxes and newspapers to try and eke out a living. Someone had built the beginnings of a kiosk in the yard by the road where she hoped to hang the piñatas for sale. The sad irony is that they were so isolated there was no traffic of any kind, nor would she be able to get to it because wheelchairs don’t work in sand.

We talked with her through our interpreter, Isaias, and prayed with her. Isaias noticed the boy was wearing a crystal on a string around his neck and asked him about it. He said someone had given it to him to ward off evil spirits. Isaias took it from him and promised to replace it with a cross. The next day, my wife, Reneé, went shopping and bought two crosses so the young boy could choose which one he wanted.

Please pray for Norma and her son, and also pray for Inés as she works tirelessly to visit and care for her patients. Returning to the states, to my house, my hot shower, and my king size bed, I thought of Norma and her son, sleeping in that half-built shack. I felt spoiled and even guilty for having so much when they had so little, but I also remembered that feeling pity for someone is of no value to them. It made Reneé and I rethink our giving and our commitment to Caring Hearts.

In the parable of the sheep and goats in Matthew 25, Jesus said, “I was sick and you looked after me.” That’s what Caring Hearts does through Inés and all the volunteers who go to San Luis and accompany her.

During this Easter season and in every day ahead, may we hold fast to this living hope: through His great mercy, God has given us new birth through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Because of Him, we are brought into a restored and eternal relationship with the Father.

Let us rejoice and rest in the unshakable hope, boundless love, and complete forgiveness found in Jesus Christ—our risen Savior.

More praise!

Rosa recently had an post-operative appointment. She received good news! She said, “They tested on the tumor they removed and by the honor and glory of God, I don’t have anything! God has been very good. Miracles exist! I don’t have to have chemotherapy. I still can’t lift heavy things, but my scar has healed very well even though I have diabetes. The doctor and the surgeon were amazed. They don’t understand how I healed so quickly; but I know. All the prayers from all of you, from Inés, from all the groups that have visited my house and interceded on my behalf-I know that God has heard these prayers. I am so thankful to God and here I am doing well! Now my husband can rest a bit because he was helping so much. Now I can do a bit more and help him.”

We ask that you consider donating to Caring Hearts or sponsoring a shut-in family. This is what Matthew 25:35-40 looks like. ♥️

House of Grace Senior Home - From Pastor Gary Simpson

In all the years I have been going to Mexico, I never saw fog before, but there it was, a thick white cloud covering the road ahead in the village called Luis B. Sanchez. As we drove out of the bright sun and into the mist, large fields of green onions appeared on the right hand side of the road where workers sat on the ground picking and bundling them. I was told they would be paid seven cents a bundle and I realized they would have to work a long day and pick a lot of bundles to make it worth their efforts. On the left-hand side of the road a small compound of bright blue buildings appeared, a church and two other structures connected by concrete sidewalks. This was the church of Pastor Cesar Wilfrano and his wife Lucy. The two other buildings housed the ministries of mercy they had founded. One was the House of Grace Senior Home, a place provided for elderly people who had nowhere to go during the day when their families were working in the fields. We entered a day room where seniors sat on comfortable couches and chairs watching episodes of old westerns on a large screen TV. An adjacent kitchen was stacked with boxes of food and drinks to provide them a lunch and some snacks. As we gathered and prayed with all the residents, I realized that this facility was a safe refuge for these very fragile people, a warm place in winter and a cool oasis in the brutal heat of summer. At House of Grace Senior Home Pastor Wilfrano and his wife Lucy believe that all people matter regardless of age or condition. God has a purpose and a plan for these folks until the very end. Caring Hearts is thrilled to be a part of this ministry.
