We are forever grateful to Dane Kaczynski, who brilliantly captured in this heart-wrenching video both our experiences while there and the recollections of homeowners of when Hurricane Maria made landfall in October 2017. The testimonials in this video of what was endured are shocking and the women do not stand alone in recounting their stories. 100% of the community at ground zero suffered as they have. Soggy mildewed homes, lack of food, water, electricity and virtually no access to medicine continued for many months. The lush tropical landscape today is still littered with garbage, debris and constant reminders of the violent wind and water that turned this island upside down over 1.5 years ago. With the support of our long time parter, SBP, as well as other organizations, the members of this community are trying to rebuild their homes and their lives. EPTA will be there to support their efforts.
