The Western PA Conference is hosting a weekend (Oct. 9-11) at Camp Allegheny, focusing on strengthening caring ministries in our churches—from visitation and grief support to prayer and practical congregational care. This course is open both to Lay Servants and any others who are interested in learning, and will be led by Rev. Karen Slusser.

Memorial arrangements: Shirley Schmunk



We are saddened to announce that Shirley Schmunk passed away peacefully Saturday morning at the age of 94.

Shirley was a lifelong member of Hill Top UMC (where she served as organist for 72 years) and friend to many across the South Hills Partnership and Jumonville communities.

Friends will be received at the John F. Slater Funeral Home (4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood, PA 15227) this Thursday, August 6, 2026 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-7 p.m. at which time funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel, with a dessert reception immediately following.

Last Sunday, we said goodbye to Pastor Peg Bowman, who's served in the South Hills Partnership for over a decade, as she enters into retirement. We're deeply grateful for her years of service and leadership in this place, and wish her the best in this new chapter.

This Sunday, we welcome Pastor Steve McIlvaine as our new associate pastor. Pastor Steve has been serving throughout Western PA for nine years and is excited to begin ministry here. He'll be preaching at Fairhaven and Spencer this week: be sure to stop in to coffee hour before worship at Fairhaven or stick around after church at Spencer to introduce yourself and meet him!

A blessed Father's Day from the United Methodist Church and from the churches of the South Hills Partnership!

On this Father's Day, we in the wish blessings to all dads and the men who have served as our mentors. Thank you for helping our Christian walk.

In 2026, we celebrate 70 years of full clergy rights for women in American Methodism. All the women clergy of the Western PA Conference were invited forward to be recognized and prayed for.

We in the South Hills Partnership are grateful for the grace of God our churches have experienced for decades through the ministry of our woman leaders.
