It was an honor for Neighbors Helping Neighbors North Braddock to be a sponsor for an amazing organization called Emma's Footprints, an organization located in Erie Pennsylvania but service our area; helping families in their hardest times during a pregnancy or infant loss.

I am extremely honored to announce that NHNNB will be expanding the services we provide as we do provide the community with a Community Health Worker to help underserved communities navigate the health system and optimize their access to services as well as provide guidance and advocacy within the system! Thank you to the generosity of AHEC and the Hillman grant! If you know anyone who needs information about PCPs, blood pressure checks, diabetic testing, mental health services, food sustainability, please refer them to Neighbors Helping Neighbors North Braddock and we will be glad to assist them! We love you and look forward to building and connecting together!

Braddock has been selected for the 2022-23 Community Revitalization Fellowship (CRF)!

"The Center for Community Progress is honored to share the participants selected for the 2022-23 Community Revitalization Fellowship (CRF). Cohorts of grassroots community leaders from Syracuse, New York; Braddock/East Pittsburgh/North Braddock (BEN), Pennsylvania; and Loíza, Puerto Rico will collectively learn revitalization strategies for neighborhoods struggling with vacancy, abandonment, and disinvestment.
The program equips fellows to better advocate for and lead change that improves vacant, abandoned, and deteriorated properties through creative placemaking. The fellowship will also build the capacity of a key institutional partner in each community to provide ongoing local support to the fellows and their neighborhoods.
Community Progress’ Community Revitalization Fellowship is a learning opportunity for participating fellows to gain knowledge about neighborhood stabilization and revitalization strategies, tools, and systems.
Each year, six resident leaders from three communities (eighteen people in total) are selected as fellows. These cohorts participate in learning exchanges in each other’s communities that feature a mix of technical and leadership trainings as well as local neighborhood tours. Through involvement in the program, each cohort will become better equipped to advocate for and lead change that improves vacant, abandoned, and deteriorated (VAD) properties."
Me and an awesome group of people will get to visit other neighborhoods in PA and beyond and I'm excited and eager to learn everything that I possibly can.
I know it will be a great experience since I know the other BEN Fellows very well. It's all about community and as long as we have the tools to make the community a better place we can actually achieve change.
The BEN fellows are:
Chardae Jone
Crystal Jalil
Edith Abeyta
Fitzhugh Shaw
Jona Reyes
Natiq Jalil
