Westie Rescue of Western Pennsylvania [email protected] We primarily cover western Pennsylvania and western New York. The Westie Rescue operates totally on donations from the public.

The Westie Rescue of Western PA organization is dedicated to assisting West Highland White Terriers needing rescue from neglect or abuse or with assistance in finding new homes. We also partner with Westie Rescue groups in neighboring states and support or participate in rescue efforts elsewhere in the United States. We are proud to say that the Westie Rescue is an ALL volunteer, NOT-FOR-PROFIT rescue mission! Our volunteers have been involved in rescue for 10 plus years and during that time they have taken in and placed dozens of Westies, very successfully. There is no full-time staff. Volunteers receive no compensation except for receipts of out of pocket expenses directly related to the rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption of Westies in the program. Each year, we place many Westies into loving homes. Some are in excellent health but some are far from it. Although most are around 5 years old, the ages of the dogs range from 18 months to 11 years.

We had such an awesome time yesterday at North Park! 🐾 In case you missed it, tons of Westies brought their humans out for a fun day, and it was clear both the dogs and their owners had a blast! Huge thanks to everyone who helped make it so special (a few rain sprinkles couldn't stop us!). Have a wonderful fall and winter, everyone—can't wait to do it all over again in the spring!

🐾 Welcome to the family, sweet Mya! ❤️

We just welcomed this beautiful girl into our rescue today. Her previous family loved her so very dearly, but sadly, she is suffering from end-stage ear disease, and they simply couldn't afford the specialized operation she needs. We're so glad we could step in to help!

🏡 Right now, Mya is getting cozy and settling into her wonderful foster home in Edinboro, PA.

🗓️ Here’s what’s next for Mya: in October, she’ll be traveling to Pittsburgh for thorough examinations, with her surgery scheduled to follow shortly after. While the procedure will leave her deaf in one ear, the absolute best news is that she will finally be completely free from the painful infection she’s been living with. 💕

Please keep Mya in your thoughts as she begins her journey to healing, and stay tuned for more updates on her progress! 🐶✨

Bonnie is now out of the hospital and staying with Kevin Hoover in Pittsburgh.

We paid our total bill for the 4 dogs which came to nearly $4,000. Those funds are thanks to all of you who helped get these girls into care. (Thank you again Bradford Hills Veterinary Hospital.)

It's Fiona's turn to leave Bradford Hills Veterinary Hospital and start her life in an actual home. She told me to thank Bradford Hills for keeping her safe, clean, and making her ears feel better. She also learned to play with toys and other dogs. She will be back when it is time to be spayed and get her teeth fixed.

Fergie is the first of the Westies we got last week to go to her foster home. Linda Cusick is giving her a taste of life as a pet in a loving family. Still, Fergie still spends a lot of time laying in her crate watching the rest of the world. That used to be her whole life. This will take time to get her to feel comfortable in her new surroundings.
