Association of Ladies of Charity Diocese of Pittsburgh

Association of Ladies of Charity Diocese of Pittsburgh To serve rather than be served in simplicity, humility and charity. We have been serving throughout the Diocese of Pittsburgh since 1959.

The Diocese of Pittsburgh Ladies of Charity is composed of women from 77 parishes giving us an active membership of over 1,400. The History of the Ladies of Charity of the United States of America®: A Vincentian Family Story begins with a Sunday sermon in 1617 given by St. Vincent de Paul (1581-1660), a priest at the small parish of Chatillon-les-Dombes in the Diocese of Lyons, France. Fifty wome

n are so moved by the dire needs of their neighbor and by Vincents stirring words, after church together they provide for the family needs.

On Sunday, the Saint Matthew PGH Association of Ladies of Charity Diocese of Pittsburgh volunteered at St. Joseph House of Hospitality, serving lunch to residents and sharing in the spirit of community. We are grateful for their generosity and time.

St. Joseph House of Hospitality is a residential program serving men over 50 who are at risk of becoming homeless, offering not only shelter but a place of dignity and support.

Interested in making a difference? Volunteers are always welcome to help serve meals and connect with residents. Learn more and apply: https://ccpgh.org/make-a-difference/volunteer/st-joseph-house-of-hospitality-volunteer/meal-service/

On March 19, the Feast of St. Joseph, the Vincentian Family around the world is invited to unite in a simple but meaningful initiative: a day of prayer for global peace. Inspired by St. Joseph—Protector of Life and Guardian of the Holy Family—we remember those who suffer today because of war, violence, and displacement. Each person is invited to pause three times during the day—morning, midday, and evening—for one minute of intentional prayer for peace. Though separated by distance and cultures, these brief moments form a global chain of hope and solidarity, trusting that prayer can open paths to peace where human efforts alone often fall short. 🙏🌍✨
