The last few years have been difficult for many non-profit organizations, and H.E.A.R.T.s Perfect Fit Canines is no exception. With the recent pandemic impacting everything from donors to available puppies to volunteers, as well as the current challenging economic environment, we have come to the very difficult decision to dissolve Perfect Fit Canines beginning January, 2023.

We are honored to have brought comfort, support, assistance, and companionship to the many families and clients we have partnered with and served over the last nearly 15 years. We are proud of the relationships we have forged with our partners, veterinarians, sponsors, foundations, and individuals who have supported us throughout this journey. Without you, we could not have had made it this far. Thank you.

The dissolution process will take several months to complete. Effective immediately, we are no longer accepting applications, donations, etc. If you have any questions, please contact the Perfect Fit Canines Board of Directors at [email protected] or call 412.523.1983.

Why we do what we do

Many people are recognizing the value of a highly trained service dogs for individuals with autism and other disabilities. Unfortunately, the demand far outweighs the supply. Perfect Fit Canines placed its first autism service dog in 2010. Since then, our dogs have been great examples of how animals heal humans. Realizing not all dogs are suited to work with a particular population, Perfect Fit Canines has expanded its services to include training dogs for other physical and medical conditions including psychiatric service dogs and medical alert dogs.
