Socks With A Mission Pittsburgh

Socks With A Mission Pittsburgh In July of 2019, 10-year-old Audrey noted that the homeless "have so little, and we have so much."

Wanting to help the homeless of her city of Pittsburgh, she founded Socks With A Mission.

I’m guessing you thought that we weren’t still accepting and donating warm, new socks for those in need.

BUT WE ARE!

Thanks to all of the wonderful organizations who have donated socks from Socktober, and to Bombas, who continues to support our mission in such an incredible way. We have distributed over 6,000 pairs of socks this fall and will continue to reach out to those in need. Let’s all take care of each other this winter. 🧦💙💜

Here at SWAM, we ARE grateful for things both big and small, and in particular, sock donations!

Right now, we're so appreciative for 180 pairs of socks donated by Paula Kauffman Oberly and her mental health practice in their small spring sock drive. Every pair makes a difference in someone's life, and we couldn't do what we do without individual drives, so THANK YOU, Paula Kauffman Oberly LPC LLC!

We are also extremely grateful to Bombas, who recently sent us a donation of 2,500 pairs of youth, men's, and women's socks through their Giving Partners Program. SWAM 💜'S BOMBAS!!

While she doesn't do it for the accolades, Audrey is always grateful when others are so kind as to recognize her efforts. Mary Ann Belles presented Audrey with the Melvin Johns Fellowship from the Lions Foundation this past week, and Audrey is so appreciative of the partnership she's formed with the Lions and their efforts with Operation Safety Net. A big Thank You to the Lion's Club of Allegheny County and to Mary Ann for their ongoing efforts to help others in need, and for recognizing Audrey's small contribution to those in need.

During this season of thanks, we're feeling thankful to the operations team at the Veritiv Corp. location in Warrandale. This small but dedicated group held a sock drive this past October and was able to present SWAM with 144 pairs of high quality, warm, new men's socks. 🧦💜👏 Thanks especially to Earl Dent for coordinating and for thinking of those in need this fall!

That's right, SWAM FANS! We have some major news! Audrey is dancing a jig right now, because SWAM has been named a BOMBAS GIVING PARTNER!! Not only do we personally love their socks, we'll now be included in their nationwide network of giving partners who distribute Bombas socks to the unhoused or those in need. THANK YOU BOMBAS!!! We couldn't be more excited to be a part of their efforts. 😁🧦💜 For more information about this company with a heart, see below.

Bombas is a comfort-focused, basics apparel brand
with a mission to help those in need. The company was
originally founded in 2013 because socks are the #1
most requested clothing item at homeless shelters.
Underwear and t-shirts are #2 and #3 respectively.
While the brand started with and is known for its
extremely comfortable socks, Bombas used its
expertise in comfort to launch into apparel with t-
shirts in 2019 and most recently, underwear in 2021. For
every item purchased, a specially-designed item is
donated to someone at risk of or currently
experiencing homelessness. To date, Bombas has
donated more than 75 million items.

Helping the Homeless One Step at a Time

Socks With A Mission, started by a 10-year-old student in July of 2019 to help the homeless of her city, has collected thousands of socks and care items for distribution in Pittsburgh. Audrey has personally visited hard-to-reach homeless and continues to grow her charity through sock drives. She even recently was able to secure a large donation from Hanes Brands and is currently seeking other corporate donations and sponsors. Through partnering organizations, SWAM targets hard-to-reach, unsheltered homeless, as well as shelters. Please consider a donation to SWAM today!
