So, I know there are mixed opinions on this but, nevertheless we have to take a stand. No, I will not be attending International Village this year.

Our boycott still remains. While some of our demands have been met, the officers involved have not been held accountable. We did meet with the City, and they communicated that, in their opinion, based on their own investigation, the officers were not in the wrong. This is after they broke the ribs of a 70-year-old Black man etc.

This is the main reason we’re pushing for a community-controlled police review board and for the police budget to be defunded, with that money put back into Black communities. Police should not be investigating police.

Events are not change. We’re asking for concrete policy changes that are sustainable.

We must continue to resist and HOLD THE LINE! For more about our advocacy, visit our blog: https://www.takeactionadvocacygroup.org/blog!

Thanks to everyone who came out to the healing event in honor of Daphy Michael.

Huge thanks to Pittsburgh DSA for their help. Misha Stinson for the yoga and Dr. Rikell Ford for facilitating the conversation. In addition, In Our Names Network and BSF for the partnership.

We will continue to tell Daphy’s story and SAY HER NAME! Daphy, was a Haitian immigrant, was found dead in Pittsburgh at a bus stop after being released from ICE custody. The Allegheny County medical examiner has ruled it a homicide and determined hypothermia to be the cause. The family is working with an attorney. Please continue to send the family healing vibes and love. In Our Names

ICE has killed more than 20 people in 2026. We must hold ICE and police accountable because they’re using the same tactics and systems to oppress us. ABOLISH ICE and police!

Join us TOMORROW! TAAG is hosting a wellness event with In Our Names Network and other community partners in honor of Daphy Michael.

Daphy, a Haitian immigrant, was found dead in Pittsburgh at a bus stop after being released from ICE custody. The Allegheny County medical examiner has ruled it a homicide and determined hypothermia to be the cause. The family is working with an attorney.

Please continue to send the family healing vibes and love. No one should endure this. This wellness event is open to the community and will honor Daphy while centering Black survivors and Black communities. In Our Names Sunrise Movement
