☀️ Wishing the Keystone Space community a bright and inspiring summer!

As we take a brief seasonal pause, we’re excited about what’s ahead—new programs, expanded engagement opportunities, and continued collaboration across the Tri-State region. 💫

This is also a great moment to revisit our Tri-State Regional Positioning Paper, which outlines a shared vision to strengthen and unify the space ecosystem in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. By identifying core assets, opportunities, and regional priorities, the paper offers a strong foundation for strategic growth and collective impact, serving as an important first step toward a broader regional strategy.

📄 Read it here:https://keystonespace.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/KS-2025-Positioning-Paper_FINAL.pdf

We look forward to reconnecting soon with fresh opportunities to collaborate and advance the region’s leadership in the commercial space industry!

Keystone Space Collaborative Board Chair, Justine Kasznica, and Program Director, Zoë Karabinus, visited NASA's Glenn Research Center last week to engage with leadership on the center’s strategic priorities and capabilities.

As NASA’s "utilities agent," the center delivers critical infrastructure and expertise in propulsion, power, energy, communications, and testing. Our visit provided an opportunity to experience several of these capabilities firsthand (alongside exciting ongoing campus modernization efforts!) highlighting NASA Glenn’s continued investment in mission-critical innovation.

The visit included overviews and tours of key programs and facilities, including:
🚀 Solar Electric Propulsion for lunar and Mars missions
⚡ Fission Surface Power technologies
🌕 The Simulated Lunar Operations Environment (SLOPE) Lab
❄️ Icing Research and the Supersonic 10x10 Wind Tunnel

NASA Glenn is a vital regional and national asset, and its continued leadership in aerospace innovation reinforces the importance of robust partnerships across government, industry, and academia.

Sincere thanks to Scott Broemsen for coordinating the visit and to Dr. James Kenyon and the NASA Glenn leadership team for their time and insights!

Keystone Space Collaborative was honored to participate in workforce-focused meetings at NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration Headquarters as part of the National Space Council’s Workforce Coalition alongside representatives from leaders in Alabama, California, Colorado, Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana, and Texas.

Our Program Director, Zoë Karabinus, participated in discussions with national leaders on workforce challenges, emerging trends, and scalable solutions for the aerospace industry. These conversations emphasized the importance of aligning state and regional efforts with national priorities to support the future of the space workforce.

We’re proud to represent the Tri-State region in these critical conversations and are grateful to the NASA STEM team for hosting us — and for the incredible tour of the Space Operations Center and Earth Information Center.

We look forward to the progress and collaboration that will emerge from this important work!

Keystone Space Collaborative recently had the pleasure of visiting some of our partners in West Virginia, and what a successful trip it was!

Program Director Zoë Karabinus and Board Chair Justine Kasznica made stops at NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s Independent Verification and Validation Facility and TMC Technologies headquarters in Fairmont, as well as West Virginia University in Morgantown.

This visit was a fantastic opportunity to engage with key partners across the state and gain insight into the groundbreaking work they’re doing to move the space industry forward. Seeing these efforts up close was both inspiring and energizing – a powerful reminder of how collaboration across federal, private, and academic sectors continues to strengthen our region’s role in the space economy and of the significant contributions West Virginia’s space ecosystem makes to that progress.

We'd like to extend a huge thank you to each organization for the warm welcome and for sharing your innovative work with us! 🙌🚀✨
