Left for a bit to return in 2011 and lived in quite possibly one of the smallest houses in the borough with my husband and 2 kids. ing to reinvigorate Glassport or I will convince someone or lots of someone's to donate to my cause...it appears that rallying people to spend money is kind of my thing. Anyway, my mother...Linda...she is obsessed with Christmas. My kids think they are at the North Pole when they go to her house. The spirit never transferred to me. Luckily, I married a Muslim man and could give up all the Christmas nonsense. So since Christmas is just no thang to me....when I heard that there were teens in Glassport that may not be getting presents because they "aren't fun to shop for." I went to work. My kids are young, they know to expect exactly one gift from their mother for Christmas so I knew I wouldn't be fighting with them over all the packages that would be coming to the door. Put a pin in that because earlier in 2020 I also became a cat foster during quarantine "because I don't even like cats and it will be a great opportunity for the kids to volunteer" and lets just say Nathan, Nala and Bob are meowing at every delivery guy that is bringing the donated gifts. I set out on December 10, 2020 to make the end of the year for these teens just a tad bit better. The end of probably the weirdest year of their life. What I found was there were a lot of Glassportanians (this is what we use here, I know its wrong) that have left, regularly think about Glassport but just didn't have a tangible way to make their dollars matter. I raised about $10,000 in 10 days leading up to Christmas and filled many wish lists. Last year we did not have the gift of time. This year, I know you are ready and will get me the gifts swiftly for them to be wrapped...hopefully by kind volunteers...and delivered to make these big kids holiday season a little more special. I do not require any financial need. I do not limit what they can ask for. I do not judge or share any personal information. Know me from high school? Tormented the s**t out of me? I will make sure your kids have an amazing Christmas. I do require that they live within a borough in the South Allegheny School District. I do want them to be as specific as possible when they send their list to [email protected]. Send them! If children are in the household that are not teens, they will be doted upon as well. As I receive the list, I update the ever changing Amazon wish list. The gifts are automatically delivered right to my house. They will then be organized and delivered to each family prior to Christmas Eve.
