The harvest begins long before the rice is planted.

One of the most important stages of rice farming is land preparation. A well-prepared field creates the foundation for healthy crops, better water management, and higher yields.

However, many farmers face challenges during this stage, including:
🚜 Limited access to farming equipment
💧 Poor water management and irrigation systems
🌱 Excessive weeds and crop residues
🌦️ Unpredictable weather patterns
💰 High land preparation costs

To maximize rice production, consider these tips:
✅ Clear weeds and crop residues early
✅ Level the field properly to ensure even water distribution
✅ Use quality seeds suited to your local conditions
✅ Apply organic manure or recommended fertilizers before planting
✅ Plan planting activities around seasonal rainfall patterns
✅ Regularly monitor and manage pests and weeds

Good land preparation can make the difference between an average harvest and an abundant one.

When farmers invest time and care into preparing their fields, they set the stage for stronger crops, better yields, and improved food security for their families and communities.

Community development and sustainability thrive when everyone plays a part.

Take the Kpoma Women Organization community for instance — through unity and collective effort, members are coming together to build a storage facility for our women farmers, helping reduce losses and support sustainable farming.

This is proof that when a community works together, lasting impact is possible.

What once took hours of hard labor is now becoming easier, faster, and more efficient for the women of the KPOMA Women Organization. 🌾✨

This rice milling machine has reduced the burden of manual processing, improved productivity, and created more time and energy for the women who work tirelessly to support their families and communities.

We are deeply grateful for this investment in women’s empowerment and community development.

Thank you to everyone who continues to believe in and support the work of women in our communities💛

We live in a world where everyone needs someone — a hand to hold, or a shoulder to lean on.

At K’poma Women, we’ve created a space where women can financially lean on each other, ask for help, and be met with dignity and support. Because the truth is, no one should have to struggle in silence.

And sometimes we wonder — why should they have to ask at all?

That’s why we continue to show up through fundraisers, collaborations, and donations. But we also know that if we open up clearer, more direct ways for you to support, we can go beyond the three villages we currently serve — and reach even more women who need us.

Don’t forget: a dollar is help on its own. And even sharing this post can go further than you think.

If you believe in showing up for each other, comment with an emoji 🤍

At Kpo’ma Women, we believe in creating spaces for learning, reflection, and meaningful conversation that go beyond our programs and projects.

Our book club is a place where we explore ideas, connect with each other, and bring new perspectives to the challenges women face in our communities.

Through reading and discussion, we aim to inspire growth, leadership, and social impact.

So far in 2026, we’ve read:
•The Lazarus Effect by H.J. Golakai
• Banthology: Stories From Banned Nations by Sarah Cleave, Ruth Ahmedzai Kem et al.
• Sankofa by Chibundo Onuzo

Our next discussion is Dream Count by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie on April 23rd at 7:30 PM via Zoom.

See you on Saturday on our screens 😁!

Every movement — no matter how small — begins with a story.

This is part of ours.

What you see today is built on courage, community, shared vision, and the women who believed before it was visible.

We are grateful for every voice, every hand, and every heart that has carried this journey forward.

P.S. If you’d like to be part of the story, join us for our fun fundraiser — details in the pinned post.

Come sip, support our projects, or even help us pay for a painter. Every contribution moves the mission forward. 💛

Meet Mariama, a woman from B**g County.

She has been tending her small farm for years. Day in, day out, she planted, harvested, and sold what she could, but like many women rural farmers in Liberia, she struggled to see how her hard work could turn into lasting growth.

Then Mariama was introduced to financial literacy. Suddenly, farming became a strategy, planning, and opportunity.

She learned how to save, invest wisely, use loans carefully, and plan for the future. She realized that knowledge, when combined with her farm, could shape her future and the future of her children.

Mariama is not alone.

There are many women like her that we work with at Kpoma Women.

Our goal is to reach even more communities across Liberia, showing that skills and knowledge are weapons no one can take away; tools that grow stronger with each generation.

🌱 Farming + knowledge = sustainable growth
🌱 Empowered women = thriving communities

February Book of the Month 📚✨

This month at K’poma Women, we’re reading The Lazarus Effect by H. J. Cronin.

A powerful story about survival, second chances, power, and the complicated systems that decide who gets to live, who gets saved, and who gets left behind.

It pushes us to ask uncomfortable but necessary questions about justice, privilege, and humanity.

As women navigating systems every day — in business, education, motherhood, leadership — this book reminds us that rebirth isn’t always miraculous. Sometimes it’s political. Sometimes it’s personal.

Now we want to hear from you 👇🏾

Have you read The Lazarus Effect yet?
What stood out to you?
Did it change how you think about power, survival, or second chances?
